Pad woman of India

Pad woman of India

When Padman movie ( India Bollywood movie ) is busy making box office collection ( In its 12th day Rs 73.5 crore ). There is women working hard with limited resources and support to reach women and girls in remote area of Madhya Prades, India and educate them about usage of sanitary pad.

Meet my friend Maya Vishwakarma, Pad woman of India.

Maya Vishwakarma, Founder & President Sukarma Foundation, natively she belong to village Mehragaon (Sainkheda) district Narsinghpur, Madhya Pradesh. She was living and working in San Francisco, California and worked with different research laboratories. From past 4 years she is working in her hometown district Narsinghpur, India on a self-sustainable village in which she made a documentary film and wrote a book titled "Swaraj Mumkin Hai" for education and awareness about sustainable villages.

She grew up in my hometown She have been through women health & hygiene issues in her teenage, Girls barely gets the sanitary pad or clean clothes during their period time. In India, more than 80% women don't use basic sanitary pads. According to UNICEF, 134,00,000 women diagnosed with cervical cancer every year and kills 72000/year so far Its No 1 among cancer in India. UTI and RTI are leading cause in rural and tribal women.

Sukarma Foundation California and India setting up a sanitary napkin manufacturing unite in Narsinghpur by empowering rural women in making their own eco-friendly sanitary pad. We are also starting a health and hygiene sanitary napkin awareness campaign named "PADWomen for Tribal Girls" in 21 tribal districts of Madhya Pradesh. This campaign will focus health & hygiene awareness workshop/seminar program in middle school and high school girls in the tribal areas of Madhya Pradesh. We will also make a night stay in the interior villages where we are going to address a seminar/workshop for tribal girl and women. I believe this campaign will make a significant impact on these girls/women health and we can save more girls before they exposed to severe infection. She believe we must focus on root cause problem.
