Our commitment to Southern Dallas

Our commitment to Southern Dallas

One of the reasons I love working at Frito-Lay is our continued commitment to improving the communities where we live and work. With more than 6,500 PepsiCo employees in the area, Dallas-Fort Worth is our highest concentration of employees in any U.S. metro area., so needless to say, it’s an important place to us.

Today, I joined our President and Chief Operating Officer, Vivek Sankaran at the bigBANG! Conference, where he announced some exciting news about a new community initiative –Southern Dallas Thrives – that we are launching in Southern Dallas to address needs in a disadvantaged area of our community.

Southern Dallas Thrives will build on the strength of Southern Dallas and help this very special part of the community grow and develop. The people of Southern Dallas have boundless opportunities in front of them and a tenacity to succeed. That is why we are committing to focus on key areas of need like childcare, meals, and education. Strengthening these areas can help to increase student academic success, improve literacy, and enable single mothers to enter the workforce and achieve financial stability.

This initiative will be made possible through grants from the PepsiCo Foundation, and partnerships with PepsiCo’s Food for Good and United Way of Metropolitan Dallas, but the generous giving and volunteerism of our employees will be the driving force behind Southern Dallas Thrives.

I’m looking forward to sharing updates with you as we continue our commitment to improving Southern Dallas. In the meantime, go to www.SouthernDallasThrives.com to learn more.
