The Opposite of Selfish
As I was quietly celebrating the appearance of the book I ghost-wrote on some very significant best seller lists, you all were kind enough to write me back with some of of YOUR "Whisper Wins" --
- I got the testimonial of a lifetime for my workshop
- I worked-out a formula for our spring inoculation of a successful truffle orchard in an excel spreadsheet.
- The first answer that occured to me is PERSEVERING.
- I just braved golfing (with scorekeeping) at a charity tournament for the first time despite being absolutely terrified of it. I even shared it with my kids to let them know that regardless of how old they are, there are still fears to deal with and overcome.
- The ability to say no gracefully to work, people, tasks that no longer serve me.
- Several years ago, I likely saved a coworker from getting lifelong Lyme disease (saved by a combination of chance, timing, my stubbornness, and my hard-won, esoteric knowledge of "invisible illness"). I just happened to be the person she complained to about a bug bite, and just happened to have deep knowledge about tick bites, and insisted that she see a doctor immediately, if I had to drive her there myself, though she had been ignoring it and not wanting to go. Doctor told her "her coworker was right" and put her on antibiotics immediately, thus averting disaster. I can't help but feel a little satisfied that if I hadn't been there to insist (and if I'd had no knowledge of tick bites), she may have been saddled with a debilitating illness. Yay me!
- I practiced the skill of intuition
- I just pushed thru, day by day for 2 weeks, going through photos and playing around with how to share in text what makes me excited about my next tour-in a Virtual Postcard to my peeps.
And one of you wrote me that I have been one of your "Fairy Godmothers" which I am adding to my list of Whisper Wins 😎
Keeping a list of your favorite accomplishments --
whether or not anyone else knows about them -
is CRITICAL to your well-being.
So start your list of "Yep, I'm Awesome" today, OK?
Write down:
the compliments you get
the solutions you devise
the people you help
the "personal growth milestones" you hit
the qualities you most appreciate about yourself
and see what starts to shift for you.
This practice is an important part of the new ME FIRST program -
which is starting soon for
the overthinkers,
the over-do-ers,
the perfectionists
and for the capable ones who hold it all together while wondering,
"When is it my turn?”
ME FIRST is a 6-month live program designed to help you finally put yourself at the top of your own list - without letting everyone else down.
If you’ve been:
- Running on fumes while everyone counts on you
- Starting projects you never have time to finish
- Breaking promises to yourself again and again
then ME FIRST is for you.
Give me just 15 minutes a day and I’ll help you reclaim your creativity, your confidence, and your energy.
Our very quiet, very civilized rebellion starts now.
