Now's the Time to Learn Google Cloud and Here is How
There is nothing like a pandemic to remind us we are all in this together. It also provides some of us with time to learn more. If you are fortunate enough to have time to invest in yourself these days, here are some ways to advance your knowledge of Google Cloud. There is more demand for GCP engineers and architects than there is supply so now is a great time to get into this growing area.
Here is a link to free access to my Google Cloud Associate Cloud Engineer Exam prep course on Udemy. This link is valid for three days from now and has unlimited redemptions so please share this any way you can. If you miss the 3-day window for free access, here is a link to access the course for $12.99, it’s valid for 31 days. Thanks to Udemy for giving course authors the opportunity to create these coupons.
This is an excellent time to take advantage of Linux Academy’s Google Cloud courses, especially Broadus Palmer's Google Cloud SQL Deep Dive. Broadus is a career coach, too so if you are wondering how to get your cloud career started or want to accelerate your learning, check out Broadus’ LEVEL UP Coaching Program. Data engineers are in demand. If you like working with data, databases, and machine learning, check out Matthew Ulasien’s Google Cloud Certified Professional Data Engineer. For the software engineers out there, I’d recommend Erik Frick’s Google Cloud Professional Cloud Developer Course.
LinkedIn Learning has a wide array of Google Cloud courses, many by Lynn Langit, including Google Cloud Platform Essential Training, Google Cloud Platform for Enterprise Essential Training, and Google Cloud Platform for Machine Learning Essential Training. David Linthicum just released Leveraging Cloud-Based Machine Learning on Google Cloud Platform: Real World Applications. Kumaran Ponnambalam has a number of data science courses, including Data Science on Google Cloud Platform: Architecting Solutions.
If you like to learn from books, my first recommendation is Richard Rose’s Hands-On Serverless Computing with Google Cloud. It covers App Engine, Cloud Functions, and Cloud Run with a well-balanced mix of concept explanations and hands-on examples. The final section of the book works through full severless workloads.
If you are taking certification tests, be sure to look into Ammett Williams posts on LinkedIn. He has published over forty articles on LinkedIn, including GCP exam study sheets, like his Google Cloud Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer Exam prep sheet.
Google has well-developed certification exams and passing them is a significant achievement. The Official Google Cloud Certified Associate Cloud Engineer Study Guide and the Official Google Cloud Certified Professional Architect Study Guide are available now. The Official Google Cloud Certified Professional Data Engineer Study Guide is on its way and should be available in mid-May.
