Meet the Alternative Thinker - Deimante Piliponyte

Deimante joined Alter Domus Lithuania in March 2022, as a Senior Accounting Officer with the Fund Services team. She graduated from Vilnius University with a Bachelor’s Degree in International Economics, and this year completed her Master’s Degree in Finance and Banking. Deimante previously worked as a Tax Consultant in Ernst & Young Baltic. Later she further deepened her knowledge in accounting at Citco Fund Services Lithuania. 

What training have you participated in so far at Alter Domus?

Alter Domus provides great opportunities to deepen your knowledge in different areas by combining online and interactive instructor-led trainings. As a new joiner I participated in a Welcome Boot Camp – an eight-day training course which gives specific industry knowledge to prepare you for your role.

There are also platform-based trainings and programs to help you develop the professional and personal skills required to grow your career.

Why did you choose to pursue a career in the industry? 

Since the beginning of my studies, I was sure that I wanted to work with international markets and accounting seemed to be an interesting field that offers great opportunities for growth, learning and flexibility.

This industry gives you the chance to work with a variety of clients across locations, and you can also specialise in a certain area or sector.

This industry also values and promotes teamwork, so you can share your own experience and learn from colleagues, and complete tasks efficiently as a team. And working as a team is a good way to make new friends!

How has Alter Domus supported you through your development?

At Alter Domus, there are lots of opportunities for employees to improve and develop personal and professional skills and qualities.

Since joining, I have been encouraged to participate in a growth and development plan. This  combines soft skills (eg. collaboration and teamwork, problem solving, stress management), and professional skills like accounting software, accounting practices, and general business knowledge. 

How is Alter Domus different from other companies you have previously worked for?

Alter Domus has a unique team structure that allows us to collaborate with colleagues from different countries, giving us the chance to meet our colleagues from different Alter Domus offices around the world and broaden our knowledge on different jurisdictions that our clients operate in.

During my recent business trip to Luxembourg I not only gained a lot of experience professionally, I also had the chance to explore the country and experience Luxembourg’s culture!
