LinkedIn in Europe: Changes for the Digital Markets Act

Over the next month, we will be making changes to LinkedIn for members in the EEA and Switzerland to comply with new requirements imposed by the EU Digital Markets Act (DMA). We will keep you updated on those changes as we make them.

Today, we’re starting by sharing that we’re rolling out the ability for members based in the EEA and Switzerland to choose whether to connect their core LinkedIn professional networking experience across our jobs, marketing solutions and learning courses services.

This matters because we tailor your experiences on LinkedIn based on what we learn from your engagement with the services on our platform. We use that information to provide you with recommendations for people, content, jobs, ads, and learning courses that can help you get ahead in your career. If you choose to keep your core LinkedIn experience (including feed, messaging, and search) connected with other LinkedIn services you may use, we’ll be able to better tailor these experiences for you, resulting in job recommendations, ads and learning content that are more relevant to your career interests. If you don’t keep these services connected to your core LinkedIn experience, you will have a less tailored experience. Over the coming weeks, you’ll see a screen in your feed about this choice where you can choose what information you would like to continue to share across the services and features listed below.

Job listings

More than 65 million job seekers visit LinkedIn jobs every week. Connecting your core LinkedIn experience with Jobs allows us to serve the best set of job recommendations for you and your career goals.

Marketing solutions

Connecting to Marketing Solutions means we can show you ads more tailored to your professional interests and measure and improve those ads.

Learning courses

By connecting to Learning, we can help you build your skills and career by showing you LinkedIn Learning course recommendations that are best suited to where you are now and where you want to go in the future.

You will be able to decide which services to keep connected or to disconnect, and you can change your mind at any time. Even if you choose not to remain connected, you will still have access to all of these services, and we will continue to use your LinkedIn profile - but not your engagement on the platform - to tailor your experiences across our services. As a result, you may notice that your experience will be less tailored to your professional interests. No matter what you choose, you can continue to control the use of your data through settings, and we will only use your data consistent with our privacy policy. You can learn more here.

As part of our work to comply with other DMA requirements, we’re also rolling out new APIs that will enable our members and customers (including through their authorized developers) to better access their data on LinkedIn. One such API is already live, while others will also be rolled out in the coming weeks - stay tuned for an update later this month. We’re committed to complying with the DMA and following the local laws that apply to us.
