BE LIKE THE FORCE OF SPRING
The force of spring has always fascinated me. It’s a powerful metaphor for many important qualities that we can emulate. There is the endearing predictability of it always showing up, there is perseverance though hard times, and there is the joy it represents. So, what is it for me?
With so many aspects of our county’s future in the balance, I think all these qualities are important right now. The country needs you to stand strong in who you are and what you represent, needs you to persevere through these difficult times and needs you to bring a counterbalance to the darkness by pursing what brings you joy.
Let me weave these threads together and see if this resonates for you.
STAND STRONG, SHOW UP
This winter was one of the hardest I’ve experienced, I’ve heard others say the same. But wow, look how Spring has shown up and delivered despite it. I saw the same energy in how we showed up for the No Kings March – 8 million – the largest protest in history! Now that is what standing strong looks like. Showing up for what you believe in is forceful.
PERSEVERE DESPITE THE ODDS
I love seeing tender leaves and bright blossoms pushing through even as the temperatures fluctuated wildly from below freezing to 70 degrees. This year has been extreme. How are you preserving against the odds, in the midst of the turmoil and hostility of war, soaring gas and food prices and uncertainty? It is more important than ever to stay steady with your beliefs. With perseverance they will prevail and endure.
GO HARD WITH YOUR JOY
I’ve noticed the joy people feel with the arrival of spring – it’s a constant topic of conversation. We needed something good to focus on and Spring has delivered. We need to take this seriously – spreading joy is not trivial, it’s sustaining us. It’s lifting the energetics of our country, helping us move forward. So please follow your joy. Music, art, and being outside are what keep me going. What is it for you?
Let me know how you are like a force of Spring! And reach out if you’d like help to become a stronger one.
