Key trends in data Analysis, collection and Visualisation tell us a story. What influence does Covid-19 have on our online decision making?

2020 has been to say the least influential, my analysis is based on these influential circumstances that lead us to our online decision making. Although my analysis is not based on Covid-19. However, Covid-19 and the pandemic is a key factor and indicator to future predictions and has steered us into a direction that we may not have taken in previous years.

My analysis consists of two important elements of the relationships between influence, data and online decision making for 'Individuals online learning in 2020' and 'Online Purchases in 2020'. Two out of five individuals opted for a type of online learning method in 2020, whether at work and/or not at work or are unemployed. An interesting category was online courses overall and approximately 17% of individuals took and an online course at work as opposed to 15% of individuals who took an online course in their own time. Many organisations have advocated that upskilling and restructuring skillsets have been considered and reviewed frequently by management, due to the lack of resources in one or more departments. Organisations that upskill their employees through online learning can assume a long-term investment in the organisational structure and organisational development over time. However, this in depth analysis tells us that people who are upskilling on their own time is very close to those who upskill at work through online learning. Many people have unfortunately been let go from their position due to the impacts on Covid-19 on the organisation, however, this has opened the possibility and opportunity to learn/upskill in their own time.

Flexible working emerged this year as a key method being used by organisations to source talent (49%), with the largest number indicating they will upskill employees (53%) due to difficulties in sourcing new talent. (CIPD’s HR Practices in Ireland surveys, www.cipd.ie)

Each infographic tells a specific story, please keep an overview of the influence element to the decision making, reasoning and choices made in all aspects of this analysis. As conclusions to each story may vary, and are up to individuals perceptions which may depend on current circumstances of the reader. All comments welcome, thank you. HW.
