The Importance of Vision in Life
Vision is critical in life. Vision is part of the Emotional Intelligence trait Self Actualization. The correlates of Self Actualization are Self Regard, Optimism, and Happiness. What this means is that when one struggles with low Self Actualization, which equates to lack of vision, it can tend to negatively impact what they think of themselves (lower Self Regard), their outlook towards life and the future (lower Optimism), and their sense of well-being (Happiness). Some people have sight, but no vision. Another way to think of Self Actualization/Vision is a flight plan for your life. A flight plan gives direction towards an ultimate goal/destination. Without it we waste time and get nowhere in the big scheme of things. It is said if you aim at nothing you will hit it every time. Not many of us are living at our full potential. We settle for less as a choice for believing and thinking too small. We stay in the valleys of life because we often tell ourselves climbing higher is too difficult. We rationalize that this is OK and we lower our expectations as a result. We perhaps are discouraged due to the challenges of climbing higher, not knowing what we lose if only we had courage to climb higher and capture the blessing that awaits as we learn to live a life of significance. Don’t just live - seek to live for impact. Quit wasting time - live with a sense of urgency. Ask yourself what will be my legacy? What will outlive me? Only those things you have done to positively impact the lives of others will truly outlive you. The most self-actualized people are the happiest. The happiest people are those who help others. They discovered the secret to being self-actualized - of living a life of significance - and having meaning, and purpose in life. Unlock meaning and significance in life though cultivating the power of vision in your life. Don't allow yourself to be held captive by thoughts and beliefs that are too small. Think big. Your reach has to exceed your grasp in life.
