How We Work

When we receive a brief, we ask a series of questions:

  • What are you asking for?
  • What do you need?
  • What would success look like?
  • What’s the most efficient way of delivering your desired impact?
  • What extra value can we add?

And, eventually…

  • Are we the right people for this project?

If we decide we can help, the last step is to think about who you need. Is it all three of our co-founders, some combination of us, or just one leading a team of freelance specialists?

Once that’s mapped out, we think about what our team will need to deliver the best possible results, for you.

Like the rest of the population, each of our co-founders is a bundle of idiosyncrasies. Our backgrounds add complexity to our lives, requiring us to develop creative approaches to making our way through the world. Within our trio, we’re living with invisible disability, neurodivergence, and fluctuating chronic illness. These experiences give us the empathy to develop powerful creative concepts, the systems thinking to deliver campaigns that succeed, and the adaptability to devise responsive strategies that are human and applicable.

We know we can deliver comms that work, for work that matters. We’ve got the CVs, testimonials and campaign reports to prove it. The circumstances we need to perform at the best of our abilities are specific to each of us, different from each other, and in many ways not what the industry prescribes or assumes. We also know that’s true of clients, and freelance collaborators, too.

If your perfect Project Lead (the individual with the right skills, a storytelling streak and plenty of passion for your cause) produces better work on the move, or with a scribe in attendance, or in 90 minute blocks, or in person, or online, or with a therapy dog, or using adaptations of any sort, that’s how they should be empowered to work. At Effective Creative, we ensure that whoever is going to deliver what you need can work in the most effective way for them.

And this doesn’t just shape how we work for you. It informs how we work with you, as well.

We’ll get to know you and work however suits you best. We’ll provide any deliverables in accessible formats as required. If your team needs headline only updates via Teams, or deep dive weekly Zooms, we’ll collaborate any way you like. If video calls overwhelm you, we’ll pick up a phone or happily pop by in person.

Because when we embrace who we are, understand how we operate as individuals and build a shared culture which facilitates everyone, we deliver the best results.

And to us, it’s the results that matter.

Glad that we prioritize the need for variation and accommodations within our schedules and styles - it ensures we can do the best job possible in the best way for each of us. Especially with the passing of the Flexible Working Bill in Parliament today, it's clear that creating opportunities for flexibility in the way we work is so important!

And I'd love to hear from Emma Donovan & Lindsay Llewellyn who I know have a whole box of tricks in this area which keep creative juices flowing and output efficient at DAPPER!
