Gratitude

For too many years, my work was getting too comfortable. In 2013 at a chance meeting, my friend, Gordon Shevlin (founder of Siegeworks and Allgress) introduced me to FishNet Security. Little did I know that I was about to embark on a wild ride of career growth and adventures. At FishNet Security, later to become Optiv, I spent more time out of my comfort zone than I thought was possible. As an executive advisor, I was in front of different clients every week, on the stage at conferences every few months (in 2016, I spoke at 19 conferences), speaking at client board meetings, flying 80,000 miles/yr and staying in hotels over 120 nights/yr.

Was I challenged? Often!

Was I bored? Never!

Was I terrified? At times!

Now my almost seven years at Optiv is drawing to a close. Optiv is full of hundreds (indeed, thousands) of great, caring, passionate people who are “client first” all the way. There are so many there I have worked with and who have helped me that I cannot name them all. I’ve made many good and great friends who have enriched my life and career, and I hope that I have enriched theirs also.
