a gallbladder has no voice: but you do
I don't know much about LinkedIn algorithms or what may or may not be seen by the masses but I figure if one aspiring writer is able to find their way to Nancy Slonim Aronie's writing workshop--I will consider the effort a success.
Years and years ago and both yesterday it seems, I wrote what I was told. Complex technical clinical studies, documents--the instruction was to simplify--create a story. We connected the dots.
Over the years as I matured in my craft I became curious. An analytic mind often unpacks the narrative beneath the headlines and talking points. I know I am not alone in this evolution. As the craft eases into auto-pilot we begin to notice the details. You can only connect the dots you collect.
I was fortunate to attend a workshop with Nancy Slonim Aronie. She created a safe place for us to write and find our voices. I cheekily defended my discomfort by proclaiming that the gallbladder has no voice. Being a medical writer for nearly 20 years I was taught that my voice had no place in the writing. But I was wrong. I started being present in conversations influencing decisions at the point of care.
Health policy meetings, panel discussions with economists, and the ability to give a voice to the healthcare debate created my popular blog and digital media platform. I owe it all to Nancy and want to share her return to Bald Head Island where we first met, to deliver another powerful workshop.
Because I receive dozens of mentorship requests--far more than I can ever accommodate--I wanted to share this story here. Reach out in the comments if you have any questions. Please share if you think you know anyone that might be needing this opportunity. We are capping attendance at ~ 20 although many more can attend the single Friday night workshop. This isn't a money making thing beyond covering Nancy's expenses to fly south and stay on the island.
The workshop might change or even launch your writing life...
