Control Your Mistakes
Mistakes happen. It's not something that any of us can avoid. We are not perfect people. The best we can do is have a plan for how we can control mistakes from being too prevalent in our daily work. Good leadership also understands this and should be accustomed to this happening. When it becomes an issue is if the same mistakes happen or mistakes happen too frequently. That's why it's important to have the plan to control them and be able to communicate that succinctly.
It's probably a good idea to talk about the importance of accuracy in your work. Especially if you spend a lot of time on numbers or travel arrangements, you definitely want to stress how you ensure you keep your inaccuracies to a minimum. It is disastrous when you make errors on financial documents or when someone is on a business trip, ouch.
You don't want ever to be the cause of those scenarios, if at all possible. When those things happen, the key will be owning up to it, accepting feedback, and providing a remedy. Show the ways that you will work to control the mistakes.
- What are some of the tactics you employ?
- How have you been successful in previous positions?
Don't be afraid to share when you have made an error in the past and how you worked to rectify it and to ensure that it didn't keep occurring in the future. What did that look like? As you share these instances, show your confidence and your willingness to grow from every challenge you face.
You can do this. Ace this question, which will strongly determine whether they seriously consider you for the position. I'm rooting for you!

Great article! If you make a mistake, which is acceptable, we’re only humans, own it, take feedback, find a way to prevent it and learn from it!
One mistake I've learned from is being afraid to assert myself. I work in proposal management, and it's all too easy for a tender response to be non-compliant, after countless hours of work, because one little piece of information is missing. As the proposal manager, it's quite likely that someone else will have that information and you might need to remind them a few times in order to get it in a timely manner so it doesn't put your whole bid at risk. I've learned to worry less about "what will they think of me, do I look like a nag", because the final responsibility is mine. So now, I know that since I'm polite and friendly, no-one will be mad about my doing my job!
A winner is just a loser that tried one more time.
