Coaching - why it matters and what to expect
"The one thing people are never good at is seeing themselves as others see them. A coach really, really helps."
- Eric Schmidt, Former CEO of Google
When leveraged correctly, coaching can be the secret weapon that propels people to greatness. Whether you’re an aspiring, new or experienced leader – a coach can help you navigate challenges and reach your goals using tools, strategies, and insights that work best for you.
What to expect
One of the most powerful aspects of coaching is the objective perspective you’ll get. Think of it as a sounding board that helps you see situations from different angles. Our coaches are all former senior leaders in the APS who have experienced the same challenges as our clients.
They bring with them practical tools grounded in reality to give you clarity on how to overcome challenges or unlock new opportunities.
This kind of support can be the difference between stagnation and breakthrough success.
Getting the most from your session
Be prepared to think deeply, share openly, and approach things differently.
Have a think about the following questions before your first session:
💡 What are the key challenges or opportunities I want to explore?
💡If coaching could help me achieve one significant outcome, what would it be?
💡Where do I see myself in six months or a year, and what would success look like?
💡What’s working well in my professional life right now?
💡What’s frustrating or holding me back?
💡What strengths do I rely on most in my work?
Booking in
Coaching sessions run for 60-90 minutes. Sessions can be either online or face-to-face, in our coaching room, or another space that suits you. We generally recommend against places that are too noisy or public.
