In 2024, CommHIT is kicking its mission into full gear by implementing a comprehensive system of community care that: 1) reduces gaps in the care continuum and 2) connects rural residents to direct care and better access to community resources. For over a decade, the CommHIT Team has been working on separate components of the systems (that we are converging), and 2024 is the year we bring it all together—tied with a blue and green CommHIT bow—for the communities we serve. A big thank you to the federal agencies that believe in us and our excellent partners who lock arms with us to improve lives where resources don’t usually reach.
In addition to the best and the newest information to ensure that you thrive and survive in your industry, CommHIT and its partners will be rolling out metrics showing the success of this new endeavor at the CommHIT24 event. Like CommHIT23, CommHIT24 will be held at CommHIT's Kennedy Space Center HQ. CommHIT's Success with the Rural Roads to Connected Care (RRCC) grant program.
Through RRCC, CommHIT has been able to increase the number of skilled workers in direct care health occupations in rural Florida—across 30 Florida counties. CommHIT is working hard to fulfill its mission of increasing community health and developing workforce in areas that are rural, underserved, or otherwise remote. Check out our metrics!

From cross-industry alliances to creative partnerships, these chronicles unveil the power of synergy in action.
🌟 Meet Our Collaborators: This month, we feature inspiring individuals and organizations that have joined forces to create something extraordinary. Learn about their shared visions, challenges conquered, and triumphs celebrated.
- Health Tech Without Borders (HTWB) - HTWB ventured on an inspiring journey to the iconic Kennedy Space Center for #CommHIT23, a gathering that transcended professional boundaries and bridged sectors crucial to the future of rural healthcare. Multiple themes held significance at CommHIT23, which were workforce development, advanced workplace technology, telehealth innovations, leadership development, and career advancement. At CommHIT23, the core team of HTWB presented on a panel titled, "How AI, Digital Health, and Technology are Shaping Global Health and Humanitarian Relief." Dr. Jarone Lee, Mary Showstark, and Sil Hamilton provided the audience with information on innovations in education, AI in Healthcare, and workforce development. Since CommHIT23, the collaboration between CommHIT and HTWB has become a catalyst for innovation. We are looking forward to the continued partnership that will allow us to make immense change in rural and underserved populations.
- Professional Association of Health Care Office Management (PAHCOM) - Nationally, CommHIT has trained and credentialled hundreds of practice administrators through its long-term partner the Professional Association of Health Care Office Management (PAHCOM). As a partner on Clark University’s $12M USDOL grant entitled Tech Quest Apprenticeship (TQA), Practice administrators who pass the proctored exam receive the HITCM-PP (Health Information Technology Certified Manager – Physician Practice) credential. The emphasis has been on channeling more women into the tech workforce with credentialed knowledge about the 405(d) Program (95:1 female to male participation rate in the program). “Partnering with CommHIT to deliver technology training tailored for medical practice managers is a game changer, but it can’t stop there,” PAHCOM Executive Director Karen Blanchette says. “There’s an undeniable increase in cyber risk threatening patient care. Healthcare professionals must know how to protect all aspects of patient safety."
- Florida Community Health Worker Coalition (FCHWC) - "CommHIT and the FCHWC have been partners for over a decade committed to developing sustainable work for CHWs that improve community health,” says FCHWC President Lisa Osborne-Schueler, PhD. In response to the COVID pandemic, the Florida CHW Coalition (FCHWC) asked CommHIT to update the CHW training tech and cybersecurity. CommHIT transformed the CHW training to expand the use of technology, increase digital literacy, teach cybersecurity best practices, and create a skilled community health workforce that has knowledge in navigating the technology and social aspects of the healthcare system in rural, underserved, and otherwise remote areas. Dr. Lisa recognizes that, "Cyber safety is patient safety. It’s EVERYONE’S responsibility along the care continuum.”
