Blender 3D and Moving to the UK
3D is not my day job its my hobby, however I learnt a lot about complex application UI, version control, saving and backing up work, managing by stages, learning from experience, continued justification ignoring sunk cost and tailoring to suit requirements. Although mostly the hard way.
I believe completing this course demonstrates a complex skill set, an aptitude for understanding application workflows, the ability to move projects forward in sprints, attention to detail whilst staying focused on the big picture. Patience, due diligence, an acceptance that technology will often be at the core of creativity going forward and most importantly, recognition that we all have to self innovate continuously if we are going to stay competitive.
I am in the process of moving my family to the UK following 12 great years in New York. I am looking for a customer facing IT role with a projected start date at the end of October, where finding solutions to complex technology problems is at the heart of the business. We have family in and around London, in Cardiff and Ilkley. We are open to any suggestions close to major rail stations between Brighton and Leeds. We would be particularly grateful for opportunities that would locate us close to a school that is recognized for creatively developing children with a lower recognition for social queues.
This course was a fantastic journey, costing only $10 in cold hard cash, plus the 500+ hours of my own time, which was mostly invested during the two hours a night that I would otherwise have been zoned out in front of the TV.
Udemy, your certificates only list the number of hours of training content that the course provides they do not have any type of AI metrics available showing the time you spend watching and re-watching videos, or which topics you invested in most heavily, any chance you could provide a little more insight into the journey.
Below are some of the projects the course enabled.
With the fundamentals locked down the two areas that really interest me going forward are 3D printing objects and virtual reality.
Next projects being considered for viability include, designing my own Rombald character, the giant from Ilkley Moor, Yorkshire UK. I think he would be a great character to animate and give his own vlog space, although realistically the idea is beyond my skill set, or is it? Either way it won't stop me running through the first few iterations of the idea to improve my estimates of the tasks required but it may have to be a long term goal.
Interiors for VR can be built a lot faster because it require a lot less detail to make spaces recognizable especially interiors which have a lot of flat surfaces, I would very much like to create some highly recognizable virtual environments. I was surprised at how intense I found the experience of submerging myself in panoramic 360 photographs using a 3D headset. The problem was the fix point of focus on the objects in the picture which could be solved by embedding those objects in a 3D environment.
If anybody else in my network is interested in Blender please reach out, I would like to work more collaboratively on the next project as this type of complexity really needs a team strategy.
