The "Big Three": A Strategic Framework for Understanding SharePoint

The "Big Three": A Strategic Framework for Understanding SharePoint

I'll never forget how my first NCO (Non-Commissioned Officer aka Sergeant) changed the way I saw computers with a simple statement.

He said "it's just like Legos".

From that day forward, I was able to not just see but also understand. The hard drive, the motherboard, the RAM, the cables, power supply...all of it. I understood it in the simplest terms...they were just like Legos.

In this episode of the SharePoint Helpdesk Podcast, I'd like to do the same thing for you. I want to help you understand what you're looking at when you see SharePoint.

SharePoint is a massive tool with a ton of options, features, functions and more. It's easy to get lost in. However, you have to trust me when I tell you there are really only three components of SharePoint. They are:

SharePoint Sites

Article content
A custom SharePoint site ("above the fold")

SharePoint Libraries

Article content
A SharePoint library (new UI)

SharePoint Lists

Article content
A SharePoint List of projects

They all work together to bring you the overall tool you've come to love (or hate with a passion😂) today. SharePoint Sites is the website component. SharePoint Libraries is the file component. SharePoint Lists is the information component.

Tune into the episode to get the details on how to recognize these things out in the wild.

When you're done, leave me a review if you liked the episode.

Here are the show notes:

This week, I'm going to break down the three components of SharePoint. It's the three pieces that, when put together, make up SharePoint. The ENTIRETY of SharePoint.

It's true...the whole tool is made up of three components.

#LinkedInLove ❤️

This week, I shouted out a SharePoint content creator. Her name is Liza Tinker. She runs Simply SharePoint. You can find her on LinkedIn and YouTube. I LOVE the way she presents her SharePoint knowledge. Easy to read. Easy to consume. Easy to understand. Check her out. She has a podcast too!

#FanMail📧

Shout out to Su from TikTok. She left me a dope comment on my SharePoint for Project Managers video.
