Why are we still measuring learning in minutes instead of milestones? ⏳ In the traditional system, kids move on because the calendar says so, not because they’ve actually mastered the material. But for microschool founders and alternative educators, we know there’s a better way. At WonderED Learning, we’re obsessed with Mastery-Based Learning. It’s about demonstrated understanding, not just showing up for 180 days. 🎓 But we also know the 'innovation tax' is real. Trying to move away from traditional models usually means a mountain of paperwork to keep your accreditation and transcripts valid. That’s where we come in. We handle the heavy lifting: Cognia accreditation, transcript support, and administrative infrastructure: so you can focus on what actually matters: your students. Ready to build the future of education without the administrative headache? Our GradTrack program is the roadmap you need. 🚀 ⏰ Pro tip: Our Early Bird deadline is June 1st! Don't miss out on getting your community school ready for the fall. #Microschools #MasteryBasedLearning #EducationInnovation #WonderED #FutureOfLearning

Come learn from some incredible educators who have done it all (public, private, homeschool, microschool) and have developed an environment that lets them facilitate learning with maximum creativity and autonomy. Beyond Grades, Beyond Guessing: The Art and Practice of Documenting Learning in Your Microschool
FREE WEBINAR EVENT! We are sponsoring a free webinar, hosted by two innovative educators and Prism power users. Beyond Grades, Beyond Guessing: The Art and Practice of Documenting Learning in Your Microschool You started your microschool because you believed kids deserve something better than standardized tests and letter grades. But now you’re facing a different challenge: how do you capture and communicate the depth of what’s actually happening? Parents want to know what their kids are learning. Your staff are facilitating incredible moments every day but aren’t always sure which ones to capture or what to say about them. And you know that somewhere between “trust the process” and a traditional report card, there’s a better way to tell the story of each child’s growth. Join Nancy and Jenique from ALC Mosaic — an 80-student microschool in Charlotte, NC that’s been refining this practice for over a decade — for a practical session on the art and craft of documenting learning in environments where growth doesn’t follow a script. Using real portfolio examples from learners ages 5 through 18, they’ll share how they’ve trained their eyes to notice meaningful learning as it happens, what they capture and how they write about it, and how those observations become the foundation for comprehensive learner portfolios that families love. Whether your school is fully self-directed or simply committed to doing things differently — if your team has moved beyond grades but hasn’t yet built a system for what comes next — this session is for you. TOMORROW NIGHT! Beyond Grades, Beyond Guessing: The Art and Practice of Documenting Learning in Your Microschool We are seeing tremendous interest in this topic and I'm stoked for folks to see how we are creating tools and practices at ALC Mosaic that can lead educators out of the dark ages of reductive assessments and into something much more honest and valuable. Prism's approach offers a solution for both progressive educators that are wanting something more meaningful than grades, sorting, testing, or even just overvaluing academic learning AND facilitators of Self-Directed Education who are deeply de-schooling but want to make the magic of the learning they are witnessing visible and translatable. If a child falls behind in early reading, they may never fully catch up. Early literacy shapes a student’s entire educational trajectory. Yet learning to read requires thousands of practice cycles and constant feedback, something that traditional classrooms struggle to provide consistently. New adaptive technologies may help solve part of this challenge by providing personalised practice while freeing teachers for coaching and deeper learning. This is one of the ideas shaping the thinking behind Inspired Edge Academy launching today: https://inspirededge.com/ #InspiredEdgeAcademy Inspired Education Group

Stop counting minutes. Start counting mastery. ⏳➡️🎓 For years, the K-12 system has been obsessed with 'seat time.' If a student sits in a chair for 180 days, we check a box and move them forward: regardless of whether they actually get the material. That’s why so many students feel 'behind' while others feel 'bored.' At WonderED, we’re helping microschool founders flip the script. We’ve built the infrastructure so you can focus on Mastery-Based Learning through GradTrack: our accredited, mastery-based 24-credit high school diploma pathway. ✅ Students advance by demonstrating true understanding. ✅ Personalized pacing that fits every learning style. ✅ Full accreditation with transcript and diploma support (so your students' hard work is recognized). Building a community-based school doesn’t mean you have to invent the administrative wheel. We handle the operations so you can focus on the breakthrough moments. Ready to move past the 'clock-hour' model? Let's build the future of education together. #Microschools #MasteryBasedLearning #FutureOfEducation #WonderED #EducationInnovation

Many thanks to Curtis Bonk and the Silver Lining for Learning team for hosting Kay Johnson, M.Ed. Johnson, Julie Petersen, and me to discuss our new book, Virtual Schools, Actual Learning: Digital Education in America. It was a great opportunity to reflect on our parallel paths, those early formative years of digital learning and the lessons that came from building an educational model specifically around the students. Many of the ideas that once felt experimental, such as removing the calendar, flexible pacing, expanded course access, and learning beyond the traditional school day, are now becoming accepted foundational elements of today’s evolving education landscape. In many ways, those early efforts paved the way for the nontraditional innovations we are seeing today, including unbundled and a la carte learning opportunities that give students greater flexibility and choice in how they learn. Interesting to see how ideas that once seemed so unconventional are now shaping the next generation of learning models. #DigitalLearning #EducationInnovation #OnlineLearning #asuprepdigital #flvs #innovation #virtuallearning Episode 265 https://lnkd.in/eEE2hNsy

I attended an insightful webinar titled “Reimagining Your Library to Enhance Learning and Wellbeing,” delivered by Alison Tarrant, CEO of the School Library Association. The webinar focused on the importance of transforming school libraries into modern learning environments that support both student learning and wellbeing. It highlighted that libraries today are not just places for storing books, but dynamic spaces where students can explore ideas, collaborate with peers, and develop critical thinking skills. During the session, practical strategies were shared on how schools can redesign their libraries to become interactive and innovative learning hubs. Emphasis was placed on creating welcoming spaces that encourage reading, research, creativity, and digital literacy. Another key aspect discussed was the role of libraries in supporting student wellbeing. A well-designed library can provide a calm and safe environment where students feel comfortable learning, reflecting, and engaging with educational resources. The webinar also explored how schools can effectively integrate digital technology and online resources into library services. By using digital tools, online databases, and modern technologies, libraries can better support students in the digital age and enhance access to information. Overall, the session provided valuable insights into how school libraries can evolve into vibrant educational centers that foster creativity, collaboration, and lifelong learning. #SchoolLibrary #StudentWellbeing #DigitalLearning #EducationInnovation #LibraryTransformation
