If you’ve ever used an Asus Zephyrus or ROG laptop on Windows, you probably know G-Helper. It’s a game-changer for managing battery health and system performance without the bloat. When I switched to Linux, I realized there wasn’t a direct equivalent for what I needed most: a simple way to cap my battery charge at 60% or 80% to save its lifespan, and a quick way to keep an eye on my CPU/GPU stats. So, I decided to build it myself. I'm calling it ghelper-for-linux, a lightweight TUI tool written in Rust. It lets you set custom charge limits between 20% and 100% to stop the wear and tear on your battery when you're mostly plugged in. I also made sure it includes a systemd service so your settings actually survive reboots and suspends without you having to touch them again. The interface gives you a high-level view of your system’s vitals in one place, power draw, voltage, battery health, and CPU/GPU temperature. And because it's a keyboard-driven TUI, it’s fast and doesn't require a heavy desktop environment. I primarily built and tested this for the Zephyrus G14, but it should work for most ASUS ROG, TUF, and Flow models that use the asus-nb-wmi driver.
