Today we shared our Q1 2026 earnings results, which came in largely as expected as we continue the early stages of our turnaround. During the call, we announced a major milestone in our brand’s history — a new franchise agreement to build up to 1,000 restaurants across China over the next 10 years. The announcement about opening 1,000 stores in China over 10 years is meaningless. The announcement was timed to divert attention away from the continued atrocious sales at Wendy’s. Wendy’s is irrelevant. Instead of thinking BIG, the CEO and board of directors continue to make decisions that generate little to no value. What they should be doing is the following: 1. License Frosty’s to other restaurants like Domino’s, Burger King, and Chipotle. Create an entertaining marketing campaign that benefits all parties. 2. Turn the Frosty into a high protein shake option. 3. Acquire 7th Street Burger and introduce their burgers and most of their sides at Wendy’s. https://www.7thstreetburger.com
The Wendy's Company getting back to the basics Dave Thomas enshrined when he began this brand is what will accomplish the turnaround. Taking the brand private and not worrying about short term quarterly results is the other part of the equation to get Wendy's back on top of the burger category. Executives need to remember that a focus should be on running the best restaurant within their "four walls" and being the best in their one mile trade area is what wins the battles and eventually the war of who is #1.

Yet y'all took away the managers bonuses that bust their asses daily to run over your numbers! And asking for them to run negative 90 hours in labor! I know the numbers Wendy's is bringing in and their crews are the reason, yet y'all continue to treat your crew like shit, period!

Seems like the focus on the core business. Get back to the basics of Quality, in every aspect of the business. Service and understanding what that really means in QSR. And Cleanliness. The franchise base was built on operations not just investors and everyone was on the same page. Fix what you have.
