🚨 Princeton University reinstates mandatory standardized testing from 2027-28. Not a big surprise, but still big news for UK students considering US universities: Princeton will once again REQUIRE an SAT or ACT scores beginning with the 2027-28 admissions cycle. Key details for UK applicants: 📋 Students applying for autumn 2028 entry MUST submit SAT or ACT scores 📋 Test-optional policy continues through autumn 2025, 2026, and 2027 entry 📋 This applies to both first-year and transfer applicants What UK based Y10-11 students (applying in 2027-28) need to know: ✅ Factor SAT/ACT preparation into your study schedule alongside your studies ✅ SAT testing centres are available across the UK ✅ Plan for multiple test sittings if needed—its not uncommon to take tests 2-3 times ✅ Tests can be taken during school holidays to avoid clash with school commitments What UK based Y12-13 students (applying for 2025, 2026 or 2027) need to know; ✅ Testing remains optional for your application cycle ✅ Only submit scores if they strengthen your overall application Context: Princeton joins other elite US institutions reconsidering test-optional policies introduced during the pandemic. This shift reflects ongoing debates about standardized testing's role in university admissions. UK students often perform well on the SAT, as strong A-level preparation translates effectively.
