"Excellent analysis, Sunil Gupta synergy between the Union Budget’s fiscal roadmap and the AI mission is a game-changer for India's digital economy. It’s encouraging to see a focus on building a robust ecosystem for local innovation. Looking forward to seeing how these policies translate into real-world impact for the tech sector!"

As we head into #Union #Budget 2026–27, one message is becoming increasingly clear: India’s #AI ambition now depends on how fast we scale #sovereign #compute. In my interaction with Business Today, I shared why the #IndiaAI #Mission must move decisively beyond its initial phase. Demand for AI infrastructure—across Research Institutions, Startups, Enterprises, GCCs, and Government / Public-sector platforms — has already outpaced early estimates, and timely access to large-scale #GPU compute is now critical to sustain this momentum Budget 2026 must scale IndiaAI … Over the next five years, India’s AI roadmap must rest on three foundational pillars: 👉 Sovereign Compute at scale – hyperscale AI data centres, high-density GPU clusters, and nationwide low-latency access 👉 Affordable & Green power – AI growth aligned with renewable energy and power-sector reforms 👉 Deep Talent & Research Ecosystems – industry–startup–academia collaboration backed by real infrastructure Equally important is predictability: long-term, bankable government offtake contracts for AI workloads, rationalised duties and taxes on AI infrastructure, and policy clarity that can unlock institutional and global capital for this sector. If scale is the currency of AI, then strengthening the IndiaAI Mission is the fastest way to build a resilient, sovereign computing backbone for India. Grateful to Business Today for the conversation and for highlighting this critical policy moment.
