Writers: If someone is offering you "exposure" rather than cold hard cash to write something for them, consider this: If their website/publication isn't successful enough for them to pay writers fairly, then it isn't gonna give you much exposure either. #writing #freelancewriting #honesttruth #IsaidwhatIsaid #payyourwriters

Does your writing feel too simple or childish even when the idea is strong? Most writers don’t struggle with vocabulary, they struggle with prose technique. When your sentences all follow the same rhythm, rely heavily on pronouns, or over-explain every detail, your writing loses its emotional power. The solution isn’t to “sound smarter.” It’s to learn how to vary sentence structure, sharpen perspective, and trust your reader. This is the work we do inside the Novel Academy, where writers learn to finish their novel with structure, accountability, and confident voice. One of the quickest ways to elevate your writing is to cut the phrase “began to.” Writers often use it as a mental transition, our brains easing into an action. But on the page, it just adds clutter. Instead of writing “She began to run,” try “She ran.” It’s cleaner, more confident, and gets straight to the action. If you’re revising a draft, do a quick search for “began to.” You might be surprised how many you can cut—and how much stronger your writing feels once you do. #WritingTips #Editing #WritingCommunity #WritersLife #FictionWriting #AmWriting
