Fixed-wireless is a highly effective solution to connect sites with #broadband. Open Broadband's Curtis Hill, PMP (pictured below) finishes up a point-to-point fixed-wireless connection in Belmont North Carolina. Fixed-wireless is fast to deploy (this link took less than 2 hours, including both ends), is affordable, and gets high throughput (these Cambium radios are rated for 600 Mbps). The next time you are waiting for a wired internet provider to install service, think of fixed-wireless as an alternative. You'll be glad you did.

Significant parts of Southland are still without power, and we have cell sites out, and many running on battery backup. We have pre-emptively opened up Satellite texting to all One NZ mobile customers with compatible devices, so in the event of cell site disruption, people can send and receive TXT messages. We're also mobilising technicians and generators into the region to ensure we restore coverage as fast as possible.
With the rough weather, we’ve opened satellite texting to more customers located in Palmerston North, down through the South Island. At present, despite the weather, One NZ’s network is operating well throughout the regions, however some cell sites are running on limited battery backup due to local power outages. If the worst does happen, customers with eligible phones will be able to TXT via satellite to get connected if cell towers go down, even temporarily. We hope you won’t need to use it, but it should provide peace of mind just in case. Most 4G and 5G phones can access basic messaging (SMS), and you can check your device eligibility here: https://lnkd.in/gPaRNnsC As always, we’ll keep our website up to date with any network events.
