Varda Space Industries’ Post

In February 2025, Varda and the Air Force Research Laboratory flew a spectrometer to study Mach 20+ hypersonic non-equilibrium reentry. Our head of analysis and hypersonics, Marat Kulakhmetov, Ph.D. will be sharing the results at #AIAASciTech this week. If you’re attending, come check out our talks and join us for a 🍻Varda happy hour 🍻at Rocks tomorrow from 6–8 PM! Today (1/12) 1:00 PM — Rainbow Spring II AIAA-2026-0307: Comparing Aerothermodynamic Models With Emission Spectroscopy Data From the Atmospheric Reentry of the W-2 Hypersonic Testbed Vehicle Tomorrow (1/13) 4:50 PM — Bayhill 32 AIAA-2026-1469: Hypersonic Non-Equilibrium CFD and DSMC Model Comparisons with the Varda Reentry Capsule

It’s exciting to see Varda’s hypersonic reentry data being shared at #AIAASciTech linking experimental spectroscopy from the W-2 testbed with aerothermodynamic models helps close gaps between real reentry environments and CFD/DSMC predictions. This kind of high-fidelity data is key for advancing both commercial space manufacturing and reusable entry vehicle design.
