Vanity Jenkins’ Post

It’s Day #28 of what Black people actually want for Black History Month  Today, I'm going to encourage organizations to support their employees by offering membership in Black organizations and supporting Black publications. This is a twofold method of support. Black employees are supported by gaining access to these organizations through the networks, professional development, and growth opportunities. This type of support can help employees develop skills, gain leadership opportunities, and find mentors, all of which directly support the individuals and the organization. Additionally, the organizations receive support by increasing their participant base. Any time I have worked at an organization, we've had free subscriptions to major publications like the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, and the Washington Post. I often think about how the trajectories of some Black newspapers and magazines could have been different if it had been standard for large organizations to include subscriptions to these publications. As we end Black History Month, I want to thank you all for going on this journey with me for the last 28 days. If you missed any of what I've shared, you can also find all the content on my LinkedIn page, as well as @shiftedconsulting on Instagram and Facebook. I hope you learned something, and I hope that the rest of this year is filled with intentionally supporting your Black employees in meaningful ways. #BlackHistoryMonth #SupportBlackBusiness #BlackProfessionalOrganizations #BlackPublications #EmployeeSupport #WorkplaceDiversity #BlackOwned #ProfessionalDevelopment #BlackCommunity #MeaningfulSupport #BlackMedia #Essence #InclusiveWorkplace #Day28 #BlackEmpowerment
