Today is the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. 🔬 This year’s theme "From vision to impact: Redefining STEM by closing the gender gap” is a reminder that progress takes action. At CNS, we’re celebrating the women advancing nutrition science, from research and clinical practice to policy and food systems innovation. And we’re recommitting to the work ahead: women are still underrepresented in STEM overall (globally ~1 in 3 researchers; in Canada, less than one quarter of STEM workers). Let’s keep mentoring, amplifying women’s work, and building pathways into leadership. #WomenInScience #WomenInSTEM #WomenInNutrition #NutritionScience #CNS

On the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, we stand for and recognize the vital role of women in science and innovation. We are proud to work alongside scientists, researchers, and innovators who drive progress, develop cutting-edge solutions, and shape the future of our industry every day. It is crucial that girls and young women have visible role models in STEM, because representation matters: seeing women leading in science demonstrates that expertise, leadership, and impact are not limited by gender, and encourages systemic change toward equality in scientific fields. Today, and every day, we commit to supporting, mentoring, and celebrating women in science, ensuring that talent, dedication, and innovation are recognized and empowered, creating a stronger, more diverse, and sustainable future for all. #essential #STEM #internationaldayofwomanandgirlsinscience #womaninscience #science

How can we better support young women in middle and high school, showing them that their talents are valuable instead of suggesting they pursue other, more "suitable" paths? One approach is to ensure girls are prominently featured in books. By making female characters central, we can shift perceptions and empower young women to embrace their abilities. Even boys can recognize and appreciate the strength and coolness of these characters. What steps can we take to foster a more inclusive and supportive environment for young women to thrive? #WomenInSTEM #GirlEmpowerment #Inclusion #Education #RoleModels

Today’s International Day of Women and Girls in Science is a moment to recognise the growing impact of women across STEM. We’re not just part of the conversation - we’re shaping the future of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Diverse perspectives drive better ideas and stronger outcomes, and embracing that diversity is essential to building the future we all deserve. At Anglo American, inclusion and diversity are central to how we operate. We know our long term performance is stronger when women can reach their full potential, and we’re committed to supporting women and girls across our workforce and the communities we serve. Throughout the organisation, women are leading progress in science, technology and innovation - and shaping how we responsibly integrate emerging fields like artificial intelligence into our work.
As we mark the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, we are reminded that the progress we seek is already taking root across our organisation. Women are leading, innovating and shaping the future of our industry, and our ongoing efforts – in the workplace and in our communities – continue to strengthen that momentum. Alison Atkinson, Chief Projects & Development Officer, said: “As a woman in STEM, I’ve seen first-hand how powerful it is when we’re given the space to lead, to question and to innovate. We’re not just shaping the future – we’re rewriting the rules so that more women and girls can step forward with confidence and thrive.” By championing inclusion, supporting education and fostering innovation, we help advance the vision of this year’s #IDWGIS theme and contribute to a more equitable and sustainable future.
