Interesting read. Here’s my take: EchoStar Corp is an elaborate scheme to obfuscate the real value driver for Charlie - leveraged spectrum squatting. EchoStar is not close to building anything useful. Most of their senior people have left (CIO, head of Boost, Head of Dish, etc), and not been replaced. They have neither the reputation to hire the required talent, nor the resources required to build anything worthwhile. They will make most of their money through leveraged spectrum squatting and the multiple-expansion from aggregating contiguous spectrum - to eventually sell to a strategic. FCC is on to them - so let’s see how things progress.
