As of November 2025, the IESO is enabling large electricity consumers to enter Corporate Power Purchase Agreements (C-PPAs) with renewable generators through its market. This opens a structured path for off-site PPAs - giving corporates more control over their energy mix while reducing Global Adjustment charges under the ICI framework. Why this matters: ✅ Unlocks direct procurement of wind, solar, hydro & more — even without on-site generation ✅ Empowers industrial players to drive additionality & meet ESG targets ✅ Adds flexibility to Ontario’s clean power procurement landscape This move aligns Ontario with broader North American trends in corporate renewables, offering policy clarity and a new mechanism to drive private-sector climate action. 📖 Full article: https://lnkd.in/gHqBQrD2

As Scotland works towards its net zero targets, renewable energy projects, from wind and solar farms to hydro and battery storage, are becoming increasingly common. Yet for many professionals, landowners and communities, the question remains: how does the consenting process actually work? Planning Aid Scotland has published a brand-new guide, Navigating the Consenting Processes for Renewable Energy Developments, to bring clarity to this complex area of planning procedure. It explains the key stages of the consenting process, who makes the decisions, and how communities can contribute their views. With 951 renewable energy projects currently in Scotland’s planning pipeline, representing over 70 GW of clean power, the consenting framework has never been more important. Anne Krippler, Planning & Projects Officer at Planning Aid Scotland, who led the guide’s development, said it aims to “break things down in a clear and straightforward way.” The publication includes a summary table covering local planning processes to Section 36/37 consents. Intended for planners, developers, councils and communities, the guide seeks to promote transparency and collaboration in Scotland’s just transition to a greener economy.
