🎓 Does it matter? Aesthetic learning in the age of generative AI …As Generative AI crashes the classroom, we must ask: what kind of learning do we want to foster? In our research, Magda Pischetola and I have explored how aesthetic experiences—those that stir emotion, imagination, and reflection—can deepen learning in higher education. This resonates with Sofie Otto, Rea Lavi 🎗 and Lykke Brogaard Bertel’s work on Human-GenAI interaction, which shows how AI can scaffold creativity and active learning in STEM. 🤯 We argue for *aesthetic disruption*: Learning designs that provoke, disturb, and connect theory with lived experience. One example is ConflictBot, a speculative GenAI simulation that invites students to engage emotionally with ethical dilemmas in STEM. It’s not about right answers—it’s about feeling the friction… 💥 Let’s make space for WONDER, NEGOTIATIONS, and TRANSFORMATION in our learning environments. 🤲🏻To make educations matter. 🔗 Read the article: https://lnkd.in/dUkXQfis 🔗 Sofie Otto et al 2025: https://lnkd.in/dpN95Sg4 #AestheticLearning #GenerativeAI #STEMeducation #SpeculativeDesign #ConflictBot #ActiveLearning #HigherEd #EducationalDesign #TechPhilosophy #EdTech #EmotionInLearning #PBL #MAKINGeducationMATTER

Hi everyone 👋🏻 🚨 New Publication Alert! 📄 Analysis of Retracted Publications on Artificial Intelligence: Trends, Ethical Concerns, and Scientific Integrity 📍 Journal of Korean Medical Science (2025, Vol. 40[44]: e280) 🔗 https://lnkd.in/ed62Ua4c We analyzed 764 retracted AI-related papers to uncover why retractions occur and what they mean for research integrity. Peer review flaws, data issues, and unethical AI use emerged as leading causes — showing the urgent need for stronger transparency and oversight in academic publishing. Grateful to co-author this work with Burhan Fatih Koçyiğit, Ramazan Azim Okyay, Ainur B. Qumar, and Hilmi Erdem Sumbul. #ArtificialIntelligence #ResearchIntegrity #AIethics #Retraction #AcademicPublishing #JKMS

A recent analysis of 28 million scientific articles over five decades reveals that teams with a higher proportion of beginner researchers consistently produce more disruptive and innovative work. Using a disruption score to measure impact, the study found that 64% of the most transformative teams had equal or greater representation of beginners. This trend held across 146 disciplines, time periods, and team sizes, suggesting that integrating early-career researchers can enhance innovation. These findings may inform future strategies in hiring, funding, and team composition to foster scientific breakthroughs. The study is available on the arXiv preprint server.

Architectures of Trust: Open Science between Ivory Tower and Panopticon Transparency and openness are frequently praised as vital institutional strategies to foster public trust in science. The expectation is that transparent and open science will be more trusted, either because publics will have access to information about what scientists do or because scientists will behave better under the watchful gaze of others. In this contribution, we challenge this widespread assumption by searching for the downsides of transparency in relation to public trust in science. The question we ask is: could transparency also have unintended negative effects on public trust? First, we consider theoretical treatments of transparency that challenge its status as an absolute value. This analysis highlights the benefits of seclusion and secrecy and the perils of excessive transparency. Next, we turn to the practice of transparency, as enacted via open-science strategies. Open Science is a framework defined by a commitment to openness, sharing and collaboration; effectively, it offers a set of actionable strategies for scientists to be transparent. We examine risks associated with both specific open-science strategies and an Open Science normativity. This allows us to explicate three concrete pathways via which the enactment of transparency could inadvertently harm public trust in science. These pathways indicate that transparency (as enacted via open-science strategies) could fuel 1) well-placed distrust, 2) misplaced trust or 3) misplaced distrust. Eventually, we conclude that the architecture of Open Science needs a conditional and contextual operationalisation of transparency which results in new responsibilities for the scientific community. https://lnkd.in/ef4-yJBQ

🧠✍️Why and how clinician-academics struggle with writing and publishing in scientific journals? The challenge is not lack of effort- it is that we were never really taught how to write. With mentorship, supportive institutions, and even thoughtful use of AI, good science can become good stories. Shah JN, Deo GP. Why and how clinician-academics struggle with writing and publishing in scientific journals. Journal of Chitwan Medical College. 2025;15(53):1-4. We discussed research design , thesis protocol submission to our newly joined first year resident. In Nepal and beyond, let’s empower our medical students to turn clinical questions into scientific contributions. #EmergencyMedicineNepal #CMCTHNepal
