Blackmagic Design has introduced a comprehensive workspace for photo editing within DaVinci Resolve, aptly named the Photo page. This new feature set includes a node-based color correction pipeline, support for RAW files from major camera brands, AI-powered tools, camera tethering for direct capture, and GPU-accelerated batch export, all while maintaining its free access point or a Studio upgrade for $295. It seems astonishing that it took the company such a considerable amount of time to recognize that professional photographers have been leveraging DaVinci Resolve's video editing capabilities for superior color correction. #PhotoEditing #DaVinciResolve #ColorCorrection #TechInnovation #PhotographyTools Source: https://lnkd.in/eDEazuzC

Quick update on Setbrief. Three things I shipped in the last couple weeks, all of them straight from specific shoots where my brief let me down. Annotated reference images — you can drop pins on a reference, label them ("✓ this lighting," "✗ ignore the props"), and the photographer sees exactly what you meant. Solves the "I sent 14 references and it still came out wrong" problem. Must-include and must-avoid fields on every shot card. The foil detail on the carton, the brand mark, the hands you don't want in frame. The non-negotiables that always get forgotten and always cause reshoots. Shot families — if you're shooting four shades or three models of the same setup, that's now one creative direction with a variants table. Not four separate briefs. Beta opens this week. DM me if you want a code.

After a lot of people asking for this, the new feature is finally here: the Photo Page in DaVinci Resolve 21. This marks a new chapter for Blackmagic, opening its ecosystem to photography. It supports RAW settings and, combined with all the color grading tools already available in DaVinci Resolve, those same tools can now be used for photo. It’s a real game changer when it comes to delivering a complete package to clients. Photo and video can now share the same treatment, with post-production unified inside DaVinci Resolve, and can also be managed using Color Panels. Not only does this simplify the workflow, but it also creates a much stronger consistency between two key forms of visual communication for a brand. You can also import media directly from Apple Photos on macOS, as well as import Lightroom catalog files into the media pool. A lot of photographers should definitely give this a try! Background removal is a digital image processing technique used to isolate the main subject of a photo from its background. Think of it like virtually cutting out an object or person and placing it somewhere else. https://lnkd.in/fB-RqNw Here's a breakdown: Subject: This is the primary focus of the image, like a person, a product, an animal, or an object. Background: This is everything else in the image behind and around the subject. The Process: Software (like Photoshop, online tools, or AI-powered apps) identifies the edges of the subject and separates it from the background. The Result: You're left with the subject against a solid color (often white or black), a different scene, or most commonly, a transparent background (saved as a PNG file). #AdobePhotoshop #PortraitRetouching #BeautyRetouching #HighEndRetouching #ImageEditing #Photography #studiophotography #studiophotographer #fashionphotography #fashionphotographer #fashion #modelagency #modelingagency #headshots #headshot #realestate #Portrait #Portraitphotography #Portraitphotographer #carphotography #foodphotography #foodphotographer #newbornphotography #newbornphotographer #productphotography #productphotographer

One of the biggest hidden issues in photo restoration and retouching isn’t the editing—it’s the file quality clients provide. Many images I receive have been unintentionally compressed: From megabytes to kilobytes Reduced by email systems Downsized by mobile devices This significantly limits what can be achieved professionally. In some cases, clients have even lost their original high-resolution files entirely after relying on phone-stored versions. I’ve written a detailed article explaining: The difference between full-resolution and compressed images Why this happens How to avoid it If you work with digital images in any capacity, this is worth understanding: https://lnkd.in/edgYPJEy #PhotoRestoration #Retouching #PhotographyTips #ImageQuality #BeforeAndAfter #PhotoEditing #WeddingPhotos #DigitalPhotos
