Online learning can feel lonely. It doesn't have to. Who are the people behind the usernames in your Moodle course? Where are they based? Who might even be just around the corner? The Map of Users plugin makes exactly that visible: learners can discover each other on a map, explore profiles, and connect naturally – turning anonymous usernames into real people. Sounds like a small thing. But it isn't. Strong learning communities don't grow through better content structures. They grow through real human connection. As an official Moodle Partner, we believe open source means more than just using great software – it means giving back to the community that makes it all possible. This plugin is our contribution. We’re happy to see the Map of Users plugin for Moodle gaining attention. It’s a small feature with a big impact: making the people behind the usernames visible and helping learning communities grow through real human connection. For us, this plugin is just one example of the many custom plugins and extensions we develop for Moodle. Over the years, we’ve built a wide range of solutions – from small enhancements to complex functionality tailored to specific learning scenarios. As an official Moodle Partner, contributing to the open-source ecosystem is part of our DNA. We believe platforms become truly powerful when they can be adapted to real needs. 💡 If you’re planning a Moodle project, need a custom plugin, or want to extend existing functionality, feel free to reach out – we’re always happy to help. #Moodle #OpenSource #EdTech #PluginDevelopment #LearningPlatforms

Managing Moodle groups shouldn’t take hours every semester. Yet many teams still: Manually assign students to groups Miss late enrollments Handle “I can’t access this” issues repeatedly MoodleConnect automates group management from the moment a student enrolls: → Automatic group assignment on enrollment → Progressive content unlocking based on completion → Predefined project groups with zero manual setup → Correct forum visibility from day one You can also trigger multiple actions at once: add to group + cohort + send a welcome message. No duplicates. No errors. No manual work. Setup takes under 2 minutes. No code required. Less admin overhead. More time for teaching. #Moodle #EdTech #MoodleAdmin #NoCode #OnlineLearning

This is a problem I kept seeing again and again: Group management in Moodle becomes a bottleneck the moment you scale. It’s not just the initial setup. It’s the constant fixes: late enrollments, wrong access, broken group visibility. We built this to remove that entire layer of manual work. The goal wasn’t to add another feature. It was to eliminate a recurring problem. Curious how others are handling this in practice.

Several months ago, I started working on an open-source LMS. I built moodle alternative, EaseLMS - that is very easy to install and free to use. If you’re interested in contributing, issues/PRs - especially around docs, deployment stories, and integrations, feel free to jump on it. Repo: https://lnkd.in/egkBavhU (give a star ⭐ ) You're not very technical and looking for LMS to host and sell your courses? Checkout our hosted version: https://lnkd.in/eR2FbTew and we'd get it running in minutes. #opensource #dev #software #lms #learning #education #moodle #alternative #pr #github

Students have been asking for a simple, visual way to track assignments in Moodle aside from the course calendar. So, I created a lightweight HTML assignment tracker that lets instructors upload key assessment details in one place. Students can quickly see deadlines, track their progress, and print the tracker if they want a physical checklist. It’s a simple tool, but it makes navigating course assessments much easier. Building it was a great learning experience, and I’m planning to develop more small tools like this to make life easier for both students and instructors. #HigherEducation #EdTech #InstructionalDesign #TeachingInnovation

New Moodle Plugin: Smart Notices Lite I’m very happy to share with the community that I have developed and published my first plugin in the official Moodle plugins directory: Smart Notices Lite. This plugin was created to solve a very common problem in Moodle: sometimes important announcements are posted, but students don’t see them. Smart Notices Lite allows you to display important announcements using modal pop-up windows in different Moodle locations (login page, homepage, dashboard, and inside courses), ensuring the message actually reaches users. Ideal for: * Important date announcements * Activity reminders * Institutional messages * Instructions courses * Login or homepage announcements Benefits: ✔ Improves institutional communication ✔ Prevents students from missing important information ✔ Easy to configure ✔ Works in multiple Moodle locations You can download it for free from the official Moodle plugins directory: https://lnkd.in/eTBjqEtq If you use Moodle, I would love for you to try it and share your feedback. This is the first of several plugins I am developing to improve the Moodle experience. #Moodle #EdTech #Elearning #MoodlePlugin #LMS #EducationTechnology

You’ve just launched Moodle. The contract has been signed, the site is live, and someone has sent around the login details. At first glance everything looks reassuringly organised. The interface opens neatly. A few menus sit there waiting. 𝑯𝒐𝒎𝒆. 𝑫𝒂𝒔𝒉𝒃𝒐𝒂𝒓𝒅. 𝑪𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒔𝒆𝒔. Everything looks calm and organised. You, however, are having a slightly different experience. At this particular moment, though, you only have one pressing requirement: 𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄 𝐃𝐎 𝐈 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐓? This is a moment we see fairly often. Most teams assume they need to understand the entire system before building their first course. In practice, the opposite usually works better. They eventually discover that the system only really starts making sense once they build something inside it, so the more practical starting point is usually much smaller. Pick one course and build it. Nothing elaborate. Add the materials, structure the content so learners can follow it, and ask a few people to test it. One colleague who will actually click through everything is usually enough to reveal what works and what needs adjusting. That first course teaches you far more about how your LMS behaves than weeks of theoretical planning ever will. If this moment sounds familiar, we explore it in more detail in this week’s article. Help! We just got a Moodle LMS and I don’t know where to start! Read it here: https://lnkd.in/dZ3rRzg6 #Moodle #OnlineLearning #DigitalEducation #Limina

Badges are one of the simplest ways to increase completion rates and make achievements shareable on LinkedIn. MoodleConnect can now award Moodle badges automatically, in real time, based on the events you already track in Moodle. Common automations people set up: → Learning paths: award a “Path Complete” badge when the final course is completed → Onboarding: award a “Welcome” badge as soon as a user account is created → Assessment wins: award “Perfect Score” when a learner hits 100% on a quiz → Milestones: award badges on first completion, 5th completion, or 10th completion → Programs and cohorts: award badges when someone finishes a program, joins a cohort, or gets added to a key group → Multi-action workflows: award a badge, send a congrats message, issue a certificate, and enroll the learner into the next course, all from one event Badges are issued through Moodle’s core badge API, so they are fully compatible with Moodle’s badge system and Open Badges sharing. If a learner already has the badge, the action is skipped. Link in comments. #Moodle #EdTech #OpenBadges #Gamification #MicroCredentials #MoodleAdmin #WorkflowAutomation #NoCode

Timely nudges improve engagement, but manual messaging does not scale. MoodleConnect can send messages automatically, in real time: → Completion: “Hi {{ user.firstname }}, you completed {{ course.fullname }}. Your certificate is ready.” → Welcome: send expectations, key dates, and instructor contact info on enrollment → Grade updates: “Your grade for {{ course.fullname }} is now {{ grade.finalgrade }}.” → Engagement nudges: remind learners when content is released or deadlines approach → Multi-action workflows: message + certificate + next-course enrollment + log to Sheets Messages use Moodle’s native messaging API, so they respect each user’s preferences for in-app, email, and mobile push. Templates support variables like {{ user.firstname }} and fields from the triggering event.
