Today, I made significant progress on core systems for the crochet engine within a test project, ensuring that only polished code will be pushed to the main branch. 1. I implemented a custom crochet_model file format and developed a CLI tool that converts various model formats, such as fbx, gltf, and obj, into the crochet_model format using assimp offline. This custom file format is native to the crochet engine, enabling faster model loading at runtime, which is crucial for real-time applications. It utilizes serialization to read and write model data in a packed binary blob. 2. Previously, I used ImGuizmo for rendering gizmos and transforming game objects, but it had limitations in customizability and performance. Therefore, I decided to create my own gizmo system from scratch. 3. I also implemented ray versus sphere intersections for screen-space ray-picking of game objects. A successful collision between the ray and a game object sets the pointer to that object and renders the gizmo on top by disabling depth writes, ensuring the gizmo remains visible. Next, I will focus on implementing additional collider classes and intersection tests, as well as further developing the map editor. Stay tuned for my YouTube livestream, where I will refactor the current implementation live on stream. #opengl #rendering #realtimerendering #gameengine #raypicking

Made a short video for fixing #MLDeformer Sample Project on #UE 5.6! A more detailed video is here: https://lnkd.in/db9PhHx2 When you download the latest ML Deformer Sample Project with #UnrealEngine 5.6, you will see the character broken when the editor is played. This is the method that I discovered to fix it in the fastest way! Making this video took longer than fixing the problem actually, haha
