One core training concept, I want to emphasize today is "Presentation Skills". Presentation skills are more than just speaking in front of an audience. They combine several foundational soft skills such as communication, confidence, clarity of thought, body language, empathy, and storytelling. As a trainer, one's ability to present ideas effectively, engage learners, and hold attention is what makes learning impactful. It’s not only about delivering content, but also about connecting with people, adapting your tone, and creating an environment that motivates participation. #ACTTrainer #Protouch #Softskillstrainer

YouTube can't teach it. Today, most learners rely on YouTube tutorials to improve their communication skills. Yes, it’s a great start — but it’s unstructured learning. It can teach you words, not the wisdom of communication. Communication isn’t just about vocabulary, pronunciation, or accent. It’s about context, clarity, confidence, and connection — things that can’t be mastered by watching random videos. A mentor doesn’t just teach you what to say, they help you understand how, when, and why to say it. That’s where real learning happens — in guided feedback, real-time correction, and personal growth. So if you’re serious about upgrading your communication, Don’t just consume, instead get coached. Structured learning builds communicators, not just speakers. Also remember: ✅ YouTube can inspire learning, but mentorship ensures direction. ✅ Communication isn’t taught — it’s cultivated through guided practice. ✅ Random content builds knowledge; structured learning builds confidence. ✅ A mentor helps you unlearn habits that videos can’t correct. ✅ Growth happens when learning becomes interactive, not just informative. ✌🏻I started CONVERSE ACADEMY in 2008 with a vision to make our youth confident in communication skills. If you are looking for a real transformation in your communication or if there is a requirement for communication skills training for your employees, CONVERSE ACADEMY is the best option.Call at 9413339957 for online/ offline training. #CommunicationSkills #ProfessionalDevelopment #Mentorship #LearningJourney #SoftSkills #LanguageLearning #PersonalGrowth

Here are 3 actionable tips I use to keep virtual sessions lively and learner-focused: ✅ 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 Kick off with a poll or a quick question in the chat. It sets the tone for participation. ✅ 𝗨𝘀𝗲 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 Small group discussions make learners feel connected and encourage deeper engagement. ✅ 𝗠𝗶𝘅 𝘂𝗽 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮 Add videos, visuals, and interactive tools like Mentimeter or Kahoot! to break the monotony of slides. The Power of Storytelling in Learning & Development In Learning and Development, we often talk about skills, systems, and outcomes — but at the heart of it all is connection. That’s where creative storytelling comes in. When we tell stories — about challenges, growth, lessons learned, or even failure — we invite others to see themselves in the journey. We make abstract concepts human. We help people not just understand an idea, but feel it. Creative communication and storytelling aren’t just “nice-to-have” soft skills; they’re essential tools for creating real impact. They help us: ✨ Build trust and empathy 🎯 Translate complexity into clarity 💡 Inspire curiosity and engagement 🤝 Connect on a deeply personal and productive level The best L&D professionals I know are also the best storytellers — because they know that every learner deserves to be part of a story worth believing in. How are you using storytelling to connect, teach, or lead? #LearningAndDevelopment #Storytelling #Communication #LeadershipDevelopment #EmpathyInAction #InstructionalDesign #LifelongLearning

Want your message to flow naturally for your audience? Then you need to master how, and where, you move on stage. Here’s something most speakers overlook Your audience reads from left to right. This means, when you’re talking about a timeline, process, or sequence of points, move from your right to your left (which is their left to right). In this clip with the Graduating Class of 2025, you’ll notice how I move from right to left as I make my point. It helps the audience see the message unfold in the direction their brains naturally follow. Great speakers don’t just use their words, rather, they use space with intention. Your stage is a visual canvas. Move with purpose, and your message becomes unforgettable. https://lnkd.in/exPN5jYW If you or your team want to learn how to use movement to captivate an audience, let’s connect for a coaching session or workshop. #PublicSpeaking #Storytelling #LeadershipDevelopment #ExecutivePresence #CommunicationSkills #SpeakingCoach #BodyLanguage #RiveraSpeakingAcademy

Communication Skills Training is 20% knowledge and 80% communication. You could have the best-designed curriculum, but if your message doesn’t land, learning won’t stick. Effective trainers simplify complexity, use stories to make content relatable, and listen as much as they speak. Because communication in training isn’t about talking — it’s about connecting. Pro tip: Practice active listening during facilitation. The best insights often come from the learners themselves. #Communication #L&D #TrainerDevelopment #TheTrainersPlaybook

What are your top tips for delivering an epic webinar, talk or workshop? As a teacher, teacher educator & visual recorder, I've attended & delivered countless development sessions. I've learned that the ones which stand out follow these top tips: 💬 Be Interactive. > Use the chat & annotation tools in Zoom or play around with sticky notes in a face to face setting. 📖 Tell Stories. > Stories are captivating, add context & put theory into practise. 📸 Use Visuals. > This tip appears in many of my #sketchnotes. Visuals bring learning to life & make it more understandable & accessible. 🪞 Practise. > Before delivering a talk, having a 'dress-rehearsal' beforehand can relieve nerves and make the session flow more smoothly. 💞 Share your Passion. > Enthusiasm is contagious. If you know & love your topic, your participants will be hooked. 💡Encourage Ideas Sharing & Innovation. > A good trainer provides ideas for teachers to adapt & improve in their own unique way. ➡️Get People Moving. > People have short attention spans. Getting them moving around can demonstrate activities through doing, make learning stick & boost the energy of the room. 💃🏿Make it Fun. > Fun things are memorable. The sessions I remember at events such as #IATEFL #PeruTESOL and #NATECLA are the ones that made me laugh, move, sing, dance & generally have a good time. Of course, my expertise lies in education & English language teaching. Singing, dancing and moving around might not go down quite so well in a room full of lawyers or accountants. Which of these tips resonates most with you? If you'd like me to deliver training for your organisation or an upcoming conference, PM me and we can discuss rates & themes. I can deliver on a range of #ELT related topics, each delivered with my own unique visual, engaging and interactive spin! If you'd like me to create a #sketchnote summary of a training session or talk you are doing soon, PM me for details & rates. #eltprofessional #eltwriting #elttraining #teachereducation #teachertraining #training #talks #workshops #events #conferences #education #tefl #tesol #esol #visualrecording #graphicrecording #speaking #publicspeaking

I was playing around with how to show that communication skills aren’t just one talent, they’re a full deck of abilities we draw from every day. With a little help from Alex, my AI thinking partner, the idea came to life: a deck of cards, each one representing a different communication skill. Then we spotted it, the one card slightly raised above the rest: Public Speaking. And on the edge of that card? Storytelling. That tiny detail changed everything. It captured how storytelling gives you a competitive edge when you need to communicate a complex technical idea to your team, project stakeholder or potential customer. Sometimes communication isn’t about saying more. It’s really about knowing which card to play and how your story supports the overall message of your presentation. 🃏 What’s the edge on your standout skill? #projectmanagement #publicspeaking #storytelling

Wrapped up the Delivering Presentations course — one of those modules that looks simple until you realize how much of life actually depends on how you communicate ideas. It’s not just about slides, structure, or visuals. It’s about clarity under pressure, confidence in front of uncertainty, and how well you translate complex thoughts into something people can actually connect with. Over the past few days, I picked up key insights on: Building a narrative instead of a slideshow. Structuring ideas for flow and retention. Handling audience attention in real time. Staying composed when things go off-script. This wasn’t a “just another certification” task. It’s part of a larger process — upgrading not just technical skills, but the ability to deliver them. Communication isn’t optional anymore. If you can’t express your vision, it stays stuck in your head. #Learning #Communication #PublicSpeaking #PresentationSkills #GrowthMindset

In our classroom, learners collaboratively explored the question — “What makes a message effective?” Through this interactive anchor chart activity, students shared their ideas on sticky notes, reflecting on how messages can influence, inform, and inspire others. They also responded to a guiding question: 💬 “What message do I want our class to share with the school community, and why is it important?” This simple yet powerful task encouraged students to: 🌱 Reflect deeply on the impact of communication 🗣️ Use their voice and agency to express meaningful ideas 🤝 Build collaboration by learning from peers 🧠 Strengthen thinking, communication, and self-management ATL skills The anchor chart became more than just a display—it turned into a visual thinking space where learners co-constructed the qualities of effective communication. #StudentVoice #EffectiveCommunication #PYP #ATLskills #VisualThinking #InquiryInAction #OakridgeInternationalSchool #LearningTogether
