Comfort vs. Courage: When Commitments Are Tested We as European speak easily about values—but credibility is proven when values carry cost. We talk about freedom from the safety of comfort, and when pressure rises, the response is often statements rather than decisions. If solidarity exists mainly in words, and commitment weakens when responsibility is tested, then our values lack resilience. In a less predictable world, credibility is built through preparedness and action—not repetition of principles. This leads to an uncomfortable but necessary question for Europeans: What is Europe’s and NATO’s concrete plan if the United States steps back from its security guarantees? Words matter. But courage, translated into action, matters more.
The Iran war has exposed just how weak the EU is on the world stage. They love to talk about "freedom" and "democracy", but lack the courage to defend it. #FreeIran
