💧National Water Week 2025: Bring Water into Focus This week, we celebrate the vital role water plays in supporting our communities, environment and future – and recognise those who are protecting this precious resource. The 2025 theme of Australian Water Association’s National Water Week is 'Bring Water into Focus' – a call to action for Australians to see water not just as a resource, but as an invisible thread connecting everything in our lives. This week, and every week, Marsden Jacob’s work is bringing water into focus – supporting decisions and sustainable solutions today that help shape the future wisely and positively. Spanning every state and territory, our team helps governments, utilities and communities make informed choices about: 🔹Water security in a changing climate. 🔹Affordability and pricing for essential services. 🔹Flood resilience and protection. 🔹Sustainable water management. 🔹Irrigated agriculture. 🔹Whole-of-cycle investment. 🔹Environmental and social outcomes of water policy and infrastructure investment. We’re proud to be part of this important mission to preserve, protect and value water, for generations to come. #NationalWaterWeek #BringWaterIntoFocus #ShapeTheFutureWisely

When Community Foundation for Mississippi and Red Window Communications launched our inquiry into local news in Mississippi, our starting point was pragmatic: What business model could support sustainable local journalism? What emerged surprised us: It wasn’t just about revenue streams. It was about how news is framed and who is invited in. The method of constructive journalism, going beyond solutions with nuance and conversation, became our lens. Through interviews, audience research and partnering with media leaders across Mississippi, we found that stories shaped in this way can help people feel heard, trusted, and engaged instead of distant or disconnected. Tomorrow, Lucy Schultze and I will unpack what that means for place-based funders, for local news and our growing Press Forward Mississippi chapter. If you are working on journalism in your region, we’d love for you to be part of that conversation with the Council on Foundations.
Our Leading Locally All Year Long webinar series explores topics designed specifically for community foundations and place-based funders. The next session, "Investing in Constructive Journalism," will be Tuesday, October 28, from 3 to 4 p.m. ET. Sophie McNeil Wolf, APR, Community Foundation for Mississippi, and Lucy Schultze, Red Window Communications, will explore Constructive Journalism as a strategy to drive meaningful impact in your community without compromising journalistic integrity. Reminder: These webinars are FREE for Council members and discounted for #LeadingLocally2025 attendees – so reach out if you still need your attendee discount code! Southern California faces a rapidly shifting funding landscape for climate and environmental priorities. It’s clear that there’s a heightened need to work together regionally to maximize funding across jurisdictions. That’s why I’m excited to share how ICF is stepping up to help. We’ve created a funding resources hub for Southern California that will help state and local leaders in the region to organize and maximize funding opportunities: https://forwrd.it/r/6jKt There’s lots of ways to get involved: peer-to-peer networking events, in-person convenings, and digital roundtables. We’ll also be sharing insights and funding opportunities for state and local leaders to help navigate the current funding landscape.

As a farmer-owned cooperative operating in thousands of rural communities across the country that are the backbone of our food system, we know that imagery -- especially stock imagery commonly used by so many -- often doesn’t show the full story of rural America. That's why Land O'Lakes, Inc. and Getty Images are collaborating on "Repicturing Rural," an effort that challenges outdated stereotypes by equipping brands, media and businesses with tools and images needed to tell accurate, authentic stories of rural America. By shaping more authentic visual narratives, we’re strengthening cultural understanding and creating space for shared values that resonate across all geographies. Dive in here 👇 📘 Download the playbook and explore original research: https://lnkd.in/gmDX_CTM 💬 Get involved with Modern Rural Collective efforts to tell the real rural story: https://lnkd.in/gT732p22
