Before the rise of AI-generated infographics, there was the simplicity of pen and paper. One of my favorite experiences as an instructional designer was creating a branching scenario in Adobe Captivate. While there were software applications available to assist in mapping decision points, nothing quite matched the enjoyment of spreading 11x17” paper across my desk during the design process.

My popular Adobe Captivate: The Essentials & Beyond [2026 Edition] just got even better. I’ve updated the book to include the latest 13.1 features in Adobe Captivate—so you can keep building without falling behind. What’s new: ✔️ Step-by-step lessons on upgrading Captivate Classic projects (yes, you can reuse your work) ✔️ Hands-on coverage of the new slider widget for interactive surveys and learner input ✔️ Bonus activities on branding blocks to add headers, footers, and consistency across your projects With 13.1 focusing on content reuse, new widgets, and more efficient workflows , these additions aren’t optional—they’re essential. Same approach as always: No fluff. No theory overload. Just real projects and practical skills. Breaking the limits of traditional Drag & Drop interactions in Articulate Storyline 360! I recently created a fully customized multi-step drag-and-drop learning experience where the interaction evolves dynamically based on learner actions. Here’s what makes it different: 🔹 Step 1 reveals the first challenge with draggable options 🔹 Once completed, the next question unlocks automatically 🔹 Fresh draggable items appear for the next task 🔹 The Submit button stays hidden until all activities are completed 🔹 Final personalized feedback appears at the end Instead of showing everything on one screen, the activity gradually unfolds like a mini learning journey making the experience more interactive, engaging, and learner-focused. This was built using: ✅ Advanced Triggers ✅ Object States ✅ Conditional Logic ✅ Layer Management ✅ Custom Navigation Flow The goal was to create an interaction that feels less like a quiz… and more like a game. Modern learners expect engagement not static slides. Small interaction design changes like these can dramatically improve learner attention and participation. Would love to hear your thoughts!!! #ArticulateStoryline360 #Storyline360 #eLearning #InstructionalDesign #Gamification #InteractiveLearning #CorporateTraining #LearningExperience #ELearningDevelopment #Articulate360 #LearningDesign #EdTech #DragAndDrop #CustomELearning #InstructionalDesigner #DigitalLearning #LearningAndDevelopment

Most eLearning interactions don’t fail because of design — they fail because they lack meaningful feedback. 🚀 Built a Dynamic State Transition Interaction in Articulate Storyline to solve that. • Real-time visual response to user actions • Clean, intuitive interaction flow • Built using custom triggers & variables (beyond default templates) 💡 Simple idea: when users see the impact of their action instantly, engagement improves. Looking to build more scalable, high-impact learning experiences. #elearning #articulatestoryline #uxdesign #instructionaldesign #learningexperience

I recently designed and developed an interactive healthcare operations simulation in Articulate Storyline 360 focused on inventory disruption response workflows within a medical device environment. The simulation places learners in a high-pressure operational scenario where they must investigate inventory discrepancies, assess shipment delays, evaluate operational risk, and make escalation decisions through a branching workflow experience. Some of the elements I focused on designing: • scenario-based learning • SaaS-style workflow simulation • branching decision logic • operational consequence feedback • progressive information discovery • interactive dashboard-style UI This project challenged me to think beyond traditional instructional content and focus on performance-based decision-making in a realistic operational environment. Built with Articulate Storyline 360. Design and Development of interactive and responsive learning experiences for modern staff training. 🚀 During the Certificate for Instructional Designer from GSDC - Global Skill Development Council I created a mobile-first interactive learning prototype for VeGone, a vegan fast-food restaurant. The practical assessment focuses on helping staff quickly access menu information and improve customer interactions through an engaging digital learning experience. Key areas involved: 🔹 Instructional Design 🔹 UI/UX Design in Figma 🔹 Interactive Prototyping 🔹 Components, Variants & Variables 🔹 Development in Articulate 🔹 Mobile-First Learning Design Tools Used: Figma | Articulate Rise This project helped me strengthen my skills in instructional design, interaction design, visual storytelling, and learning design workflows. #InstructionalDesign #ELearning #Figma #ArticulateRise #LearningDesign #UIUX #contentdevelopment #gsdccertified The prototype made in Figma can be accessed from here. https://lnkd.in/dJbKenV5

Most people are still using Articulate Storyline 360 like it’s PowerPoint with triggers. That’s the problem. The next wave of eLearning creators won’t be the people who know “how to build slides.” It’ll be the people who know how to design decision-making experiences. Here’s a fresh LinkedIn post angle that is still early enough to stand out because most creators are not talking about it properly yet: Your eLearning course is failing for one reason: It’s training memory instead of judgment. Anyone can create: ✔ Click-next courses ✔ Quizzes with 80% pass marks ✔ Drag-and-drop interactions But real workplace mistakes don’t happen because people “forgot content.” They happen because employees: misread situations choose the wrong priority respond emotionally under pressure fail to make decisions in ambiguity That’s where modern Articulate Storyline 360 changes the game. The future of eLearning is: → AI-assisted branching scenarios → Dynamic feedback paths → Roleplay simulations → Adaptive conversations → Consequence-based learning Not slides. Not animations. Not transitions. The creators who understand behavior design will dominate the next 3 years of L&D. Most instructional designers are still building courses. A few are starting to build simulated thinking environments. That gap is about to become massive. #Articulate360 #Storyline360 #InstructionalDesign #ELearning #LearningAndDevelopment #CorporateTraining #AIinLearning #SCORM #EdTech #LearningExperienceDesign #LnD

Video creation expectations across L&D continue to increase. For instructional designers, the challenge is often not the content itself. It’s the workflow surrounding it: disconnected tools, production bottlenecks, revision cycles, and increasing pressure to create polished learning experiences faster. On May 28, Dani Watkins joins ScreenPal for a live session showing how Canva + ScreenPal supports more streamlined learning content workflows from planning and visual design through final delivery. Attendees will see practical approaches for: • simplifying video production workflows • repurposing existing learning materials • reducing production friction 🔗 Register here: https://zurl.co/BjaBs
