Hot chocolate made with water is just flavored water. I said what I said. Milk. Any milk. Cow, oat, almond, soy, cashew... something creamy has to mix with that cocoa magic or you are drinking a lie. Swiss Miss... ok fine. But if you're going to the trouble, why not use some good chocolate and make it worth your while. 😜 Whipped cream optional but strongly recommended. See photo for reference. ☕ It's Friday. Defend your sad, watery hot chocolate choices in the comments.
Mini marshmellows or big marshmellows in the cocoa? 🤗
I use milk and a bit of heavy whipping cream. Then cinnamon and a pinch of cayenne mixed in.
To piggyback off this I’d like to add rice cooked in water is just bland grains. chicken broth, beef broth, bone broth, ANY broth…something flavored has to mix with that rice!!! 🤣
THIS! Totally agree. As far as whipped cream goes... the more the better. I used to go to this little diner with my mom and grandma every Friday and I always ordered hot chocolate with extra whipped cream. After a dozen or so weekly visits, the waitress that served us regularly finally got the hint and she brought me a mug of hot chocolate with whipped cream that was about 18 inches high. It was the best and such a memorable moment 35 years later.
My name is Kristi, and I support this message. 🥛
The creamier the milk the better!! Whipped cream Required and add a candy cane at Christmas!
I agree, and I’ve done it. You’re so right! I split it now half oat milk and water. Listen, baby steps!
A while back, my 6-year-old said she wanted “cold hot chocolate” — so chocolate milk?
And unsweet tea is just stained water.

4dIn case you can't tell with this photo, I like my whipped cream with a side of hot chocolate. 😂
