AI is reshaping more than workloads. It’s reshaping the global supply chain. In a recent HPCwire interview with Alex Woodie, RapidScale President Duane Barnes weighs in on how the GenAI boom is driving unprecedented disruptions across data center infrastructure, from memory and storage shortages to soaring server costs. The reality for many organizations right now: • Hardware prices are rising fast • OEMs are struggling to honor legacy pricing • Waiting it out is not always an option The takeaway is not panic. It’s planning. As Duane notes, the smartest path forward is often optimizing what you already have, applying FinOps discipline, and building a more flexible cloud or hybrid strategy to navigate ongoing volatility. Glad to be part of this HPCwire conversation with Alex Woodie. The AI boom is putting real pressure on infrastructure supply chains, well beyond GPUs. Memory, storage, and core enterprise hardware are all affected, making pricing and planning more unpredictable than ever. My advice to customers is simple. Optimize what you already have, build flexibility into your roadmap, and use FinOps discipline to navigate the volatility. This is not a short cycle, and thoughtful planning now will pay off later. At RapidScale, this is exactly the kind of work we’re doing alongside customers every day. If these challenges sound familiar, we’re here to help.

Great perspective from Duane Barnes in this HPCwire interview. The GenAI boom isn’t just a technology shift it’s a fundamental stress test on infrastructure economics. Rising hardware costs, constrained supply, and pricing volatility are forcing organizations to rethink their approach. The takeaway isn’t to wait for things to normalize. It’s to act: 👉 Optimize what you already have 👉 Apply FinOps discipline 👉 Build flexible cloud and hybrid strategies The organizations that adapt fastest will be the ones that stay ahead.

In 2026, database teams are under more pressure than ever. Move fast. Stay secure. Don't break anything. At Redgate Software, we see three things that separate teams that are in control from those that aren't: Automate with confidence / manual processes slow you down and introduce risk. Automation reduces operational toil, scales changes faster, and gives you governance you can trust. Scale securely / whether you're moving to cloud, managing hybrid environments, or expanding across platforms, consistency is everything. Consistent change management, consistent monitoring, consistent visibility. Unlock growth through AI / not just by making your team more productive, but by building the reliable data foundations that AI actually depends on. AI is only as good as the data underneath it. These aren't three separate problems. They're one challenge: control. What does "being in control" of your database environment look like for your team right now? #DatabaseManagement #DataGovernance #Redgate #AI #DevOps #DatabaseAutomation

Everyone is talking about cost and performance in AI infrastructure. From an operations perspective, that’s only half the story. Virtual machines still make sense, especially for testing, short-lived workloads, or early-stage teams. They’re fast, flexible, and easy to deploy. But as AI workloads grow, the challenge isn’t just performance. It’s complexity. When something breaks in a VM environment, you’re dealing with multiple layers: compute, storage, network, hypervisor. Troubleshooting becomes less direct, and issues are harder to isolate. And in operations, inconsistency is often more expensive than cost. AI workloads amplify this: • unpredictable performance ⚠️ • longer resolution times ⏳ • more operational pressure 🔥 At some point, the shift happens. It’s no longer about flexibility. It’s about predictability That’s where dedicated infrastructure starts to make sense: fewer variables, clearer ownership, more consistent behavior. Virtual machines are great to get started. But as AI workloads scale, operational simplicity becomes increasingly important. #AI #Infrastructure #BareMetal #Cloud #Operations #Datacenter

Cloud spending is closing in on $1 trillion this year, and the waste problem isn't shrinking. It's accelerating. 💸 According to the 2026 State of FinOps report, organizations without disciplined financial practices are losing 29-32% of their cloud budget to pure waste. But the real budget threat isn't legacy VMs anymore. It's AI. The AI Cost Shift: ↱ GPU-intensive workloads now account for ~18% of total cloud spend in AI-forward firms, up from 4% just three years ago. ↱ 98% of FinOps teams are now managing AI spend, up from 31% in 2024. Unlike predictable infrastructure, one unoptimized agentic workflow or ungoverned inference load can double your bill overnight. ↱ The teams winning in 2026 aren't just cutting costs. They are governing spend before it happens through per-model telemetry and hybrid visibility. 🎯 This is exactly why we built our model. Our clients typically recover 30%+ of their existing spend through independent, unbiased contract negotiation and strategic alignment. And while traditional consulting firms charge millions for these engagements, Cloud Latitude provides this at zero cost. Tech leaders: Is AI cost governance on your Q2 roadmap, or is it still being treated as someone else's problem?
