India’s edtech transformation faces a structural challenge that technology alone cannot solve. As of 2025: • 90 percent of new internet users prefer vernacular languages • Only 10 percent are English proficient Yet most AI systems powering education remain English-first. The impact is visible: • English AI models show ~95 percent accuracy • Indic low-resource language models average ~45 percent • Higher hallucination risks in regional languages • High demand but low supply for voice-based learning • Indic AI tutors remain unreliable at scale With NEP 2020 mandating mother tongue instruction until Grade 5, the urgency for vernacular AI in education is accelerating. India’s edtech future will depend not on more AI, but on better multilingual AI. #EdTechIndia #AIinEducation #MultilingualAI #VernacularAI #EducationPolicy #NEP2020 #DigitalInclusion #FutureOfLearning #IndicLanguages #AIForAll

𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮'𝘀 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝘂𝗹𝗲𝘀—𝗦𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆. When I released the global report “𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗱𝗼𝘄 𝗖𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘂𝗺: 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗜”, the response revealed something critical—𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹. I’ve now compiled an India-specific report based on 192 student responses. And what emerged about Indian learners is 𝘣𝘰𝘵𝘩 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨. 𝗧𝘄𝗼 𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁: 1️⃣ 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗲-𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: A significant share of Indian students use smartphones as their primary device for AI-assisted learning—limiting their ability to engage in deeper workflows like code generation, slide creation, or data analysis. 2️⃣ 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝘂𝗺: Over 85% of Indian respondents rely on free versions of AI tools. Institutional support is almost non-existent. This is creating a two-tiered learning system, where access—not just ability—determines academic outcomes. ⚠️ As AI becomes core to the future of work, these patterns raise urgent questions about 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴, 𝘦𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘵𝘺, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺-𝘣𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨. 📄 I've published a visual deck summarizing the India report. Please leave a comment if you'd like access to the full paper or if you're working on similar themes. I'd love to hear your reflections in the comments. Amity University Online is going big on AI, and we’re doing it in ways that improve learning outcomes and build real career capability. Lately, a question I’m getting often asked is, “What is Amity University Online doing in AI?” Here are three of our many AI initiatives. First, we’ve embedded AI into the student experience through Prof. Ami, our always on AI learning companion, helping learners with clearer concepts and smarter study nudges, 24/7. Second, we’re scaling AI skilling through the School of AI, with programs built not just for coders, but for leaders and domain professionals who need practical AI fluency in their day to day roles. Third, we’re strengthening AI career pathways with specialised programs like the MCA in Artificial Intelligence, alongside applied offerings that emphasise hands on projects and real tools. AI is no longer optional, it’s foundational, and our commitment is to make it accessible, responsible and outcomes led for every learner. #AI #HigherEducation #OnlineLearning #FutureOfWork #Upskilling #AmityUniversityOnline #AmitySchoolOfAI Amity University Online

How AI is transforming Indian higher education Artificial intelligence is rapidly becoming part of everyday academic life in India, reshaping how students learn, researchers work, and educators teach. A recent FICCI-EY Parthenon study shows that over 60 percent of higher education institutions now permit the use of AI tools, signalling a clear shift from experimentation to mainstream adoption. Backed by policy initiatives from NITI Aayog and national AI literacy programmes, India is building an inclusive and responsible framework for AI in education. AI is already expanding access to learning through language support, accelerating research by automating routine tasks, and redefining the educator’s role toward mentorship and higher-value teaching. 🤖 People are not being replaced by AI. AI is replacing those who don't use it. By 2026, artificial intelligence is a career accelerator rather than a futuristic idea. Early adopters are the ones who will advance in fields like software, data analysis, and digital marketing and sales. This is the ideal moment for professionals and students in Swabi and KPK to: ✔ Learn AI tools ✔ Use them in real-world situations ✔ Develop globally relevant skills The most intelligent people do not own the future. It belongs to the most rapid learners. 💬 How do you apply AI to your studies or work? #ArtificialIntelligence #FutureOfWork #Swabi #KPK #CareerGrowth #TechTrends #DigitalSkills #TechCreator

Are we teaching learner’s to prompt or to think? Our recent pilot study on AI curriculum with 1,000+ school learner’s in rural schools reveals an uncomfortable truth. While the use of AI among learner’s for studying jumped by 15%, we did not see a corresponding rise in learning. In fact, for many learner’s, reasoning and creativity scores actually dropped. Learner’s ended up using AI as a shortcut for learning. This cognitive offloading halted their learning process, where the AI tool did the thinking so the learner’s didn't have to. We also found that in schools with poor infrastructure, introducing AI actually made learner’s less likely to work together. This is why ‘AI Literacy’ can not just be a software rollout. It has to be a pedagogical shift. At QUEST Alliance we are moving towards ‘Critical AI futures Pedagogy,’ which considers young people as challengers and creators of AI, rather than mere consumers. We believe that learner’s should be made aware of what AI is, how it functions, its benefits and risks along with its socio-technical implications. Through this learner’s can be more agentic in deciding how, where and how much of AI they want to use. As world leaders gather to discuss important questions in Davos and Delhi it is urgent that they discuss how will future generations develop critical thinking and creativity that will enable them to thrive in their careers. Check out our report below that outlines a pedagogical blueprint for the future. https://lnkd.in/gd8rS5cP Punya Mishra Amba Kak Fabio Nascimbeni Tom Wambeke Bhawna Parmar Natasha Joshi Natalie Lao, PhD Pranay VK Dr.Preetha Sundar Bhakta Cat Zuzarte Tully Dayoung Lee Gaurav Gupta Dominic Regester Urvashi Aneja Donald Lobo Risha Ramachandran sahana h m Mekin Maheshwari Chetan Kapoor Sharvi Dublish Kumar Anurag Pratap Kshitija Krishnaswamy Sarojini Subbiah Rohini Kaul #CriticalAILiteracy #QuestAlliance #AIFutures #FutureOfLearning #EdTech
