My first thought was apple.

Samosa isn't a pastry (period)

Came to the comments to see what other category a turnover might belong to besides pastries...and I'm still not sure. What was today's best wrong guess? Pinpoint #664 | 1 guess 1️⃣ | 100% match 📌 🏅 I’m smarter than 99% of CEOs today! #AreYouSmarterThanACEO lnkd.in/pinpoint.

Hmm… I got it in two because I thought they were things that used pastry. But it’s because they *are* pastries… though I’m not certain I’d put samosa into the category as it’s usually reserved for sweet things! I’m really lucky doughnut wasn’t earlier in the clues because that would have thrown me totally (not being made of pastry). By the way, did everyone get the British English spelling on that one? I know USAnians don’t like extra letters in their words very much 😉 Pinpoint #664 | 2 guesses 1️⃣ | 78% match 2️⃣ | 100% match 📌 lnkd.in/pinpoint.

I think people are confusing what pastry is. It’s basically flour with butter (or other fat) cut in, and can be eaten stuffed with something, or on its own. It can be savory or sweet, and can be fried. Pastry doesn’t just mean a fragile, sweet, baked confection. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_pastries#:~:text=Pastries%20are%20small%20buns%20made,Italy%2C%20Spain%2C%20and%20Switzerland.

It's got to be deep fried where you break out the crunchy corners, and eat the samosa and those saved crunchy corners at the end.

I love how people come to defend a bad AI-generated puzzle because they got it right. You can make an educated guess/draw conclusions even from a bad puzzle if you have the right context. But that doesn't make a puzzle good. I have got 1st attempts correct where if that attempt was wrong, the puzzle went downhill. Pastry definition as per dictionaries - a food made from a mixture of flour, fat, and water, rolled flat and either wrapped around or put over or under other foods. Based on this, majority of the foods across the palate are pastry. Wraps, Rolls, Momos, Baos, Tacos, Breads including white, brown, flatbreads like chapati, kulchcha, bhatura, naan and even Lasagna are pastry. Masala dosa, uttapam is a pastry. Why even have other words? Why did this generic definition of pastry even come to be? Did they run out of space to add other words? Americans, Indians, Chinese, Japanese, Canadian, British - No nationality people categorize all five as pastry nor they use this definition as the meaning of pastry.

Not right... Considering Samosa, it should have been Snacks (which was my second choice, which Pinpoint didn't agree) - since Samosa is Fried item, not baked.
