Phil Rosenberg’s Post

After a 40+ year sales career, including 32 years selling PlayStation and 20 as an executive at Sony Interactive Entertainment, I am headed to the beach! I leave with a heart full of gratitude and incredible memories, as well as a deep appreciation for the amazing colleagues, business partners, and friends I have been fortunate to work alongside across the decades and the many stages of my life. I will miss the moments, the months, and the years of laughs, highlights, and occasional hysteria we shared. I wish you nothing but health and happiness on your personal journeys. Thank you for your trust, your help, and your friendship. I could not have reached this day without you. Much love and aloha 😎 Phil

Beach time has officially never been more earned. 🌴🍹🏌🏻 PlayStation, the games industry, and the world are better because of you, Phil. From the moment we landed in the Bay Area, you welcomed our family with open arms. You were a world-class mentor in all the finest Don Felipe traditions - and somehow managed to remain a constant long after our unforgettable PlayStation chapter ended. That kind of leadership (and humanity) is rare. So thank you, Phil - Uncle Pheel, Don Felipe - for being one of the absolute greats. As you settle into retirement and a very aggressive sunset-watching schedule, it feels only right to expand your already legendary list of titles to include: Mai-Tai Phil, Felipe de la Playa, and the undisputed Rey de Aloha. Feet up. Drink in hand. Legacy secure. You’ve earned every single minute. ❤️

Couldn’t be more deserved, Phil. I’m grateful for the years we spent together at PlayStation and for the lessons you passed down. The “Phil-isms” we joked about are still echoing across the industry today. Thank you for trusting me with that role and backing our team through some hard moments. You always made space for context and perspective, even when the clock was running out, while still pushing us to close deals quickly and fairly because, as you reminded us, “Deals don’t get better with time.” You taught me real ownership. “If you’re going to eat shit, don’t nibble” rings true as we face hard problems every day as an industry. And you grounded us in humility. “Nobody is bigger than the brand.” Thanks for believing in me, listening, and pushing us to do our best work. We did some special things together, and I’ll always be proud of that chapter. “40 years? It felt like 40 minutes… underwater!” Congratulations, and all the best in retirement. Best, - Adam

Phil - what a career and what a mark you have left on this industry. Enjoy the well deserved retirement!

What a run, what a man - every interaction with you was joyous fun while building one of the largest contemporary entertainment companies in the universe. You may be ready for the beach but I am not sure the beach is ready for you. Soldier on my good man - thank you for all you did for me and our companies -

Phil, your retirement news is bittersweet – sad to see you leave the industry, but fantastic news for beaches everywhere! It's been an absolute privilege to partner with you and witness your incredible journey. Your kindness, sense of humor, and genuine partnership always stood out, making every interaction a pleasure. Enjoy every minute of that well-deserved sand and sunshine!

Congrats, Phil! An industry legend, no doubt! Remember this very early foray into streaming well... https://blog.playstation.com/2011/08/17/directv-and-playstation-bring-nfl-sunday-ticket-to-ps3/ I hope you're able to enjoy some well-needed R&R.

Sincere congrats Phil! Some of my fondest memories at PlayStation involve the challenges we conquered together and the many "good, good times" we had along the way. Your contributions to the success of the business are obvious. But to me what's more impressive, as evidenced from the outpouring of support shown here, is just how many people you impacted and made better because of it. Love ya brother!

Congrats Phil! What a journey. 🐻⬇️
