It’s a deeply emotional day for the advertising and creative fraternity. Piyush Pandey wasn’t just an icon — he was the conscience of Indian advertising. He taught us that great ideas don’t come from machines, they come from moments. From people. From life. In one of my reflections on him, I had written about “The Role of AI in Marketing: A Balance Between Technology and Human Intuition.” He believed — and lived — the idea that while technology can take you far, creativity begins where algorithms end. AI can take you 75% of the way, but the remaining 25% — that spark of intuition, empathy, and cultural understanding — that’s where the magic of marketing truly lies. He once said something that perfectly sums this up: “If you look into a computer, you’ll see data; if you look up, you’ll see the world.” I had the privilege of meeting him at ETBrandEquity in 2022, and that short interaction left a lasting mark. His humility, his curiosity, and his deep respect for real human stories made him one of a kind. Piyush Pandey didn’t just build brands — he built belief in the power of creativity. He made us see that advertising is not about selling, but about understanding people. Rest in peace, Piyush Sir.
