The Quiet Split in HR Tech Few Are Talking About Two major moves this quarter show exactly where HR tech is heading. Dayforce is going private in a $12.3 billion deal with Thoma Bravo. Workday just completed its acquisition of Paradox, the conversational AI platform focused on high-volume hiring. These moves are not random. They signal a fundamental divide. Private equity is betting on efficiency and scale. Enterprise incumbents are betting on AI and experience. Dayforce going private means fewer quarterly constraints and more freedom to rebuild. Expect them to cut deep, automate aggressively, and design for productivity rather than optics. Workday’s Paradox acquisition is the opposite bet. It is focused on the front end of the funnel, where experience and engagement drive value. The message is clear. HR tech is splitting into two classes of innovation: those optimizing the machine and those humanizing the interface. If you lead HR, you need to decide which camp you are in.
