Many not-for-profits already use Microsoft SharePoint and wonder: Can it double as a board portal? 👉 Technically, yes. But should you? That’s another story. While SharePoint offers versatility and Microsoft integration, it often falls short for board governance—lacking specialised features like secure board packs, action tracking, and voting tools. It’s also complex, costly to maintain, and not always user-friendly for busy directors. A dedicated board portal like Our Cat Herder is built for governance—simple, secure, cost-effective, and designed with directors in mind. https://lnkd.in/g-BhHYgf #boardportal #governance #notforprofit #boardmeetings #boardsoftware #betterboards

🌟 Day 89 of 100DaysOfPowerPlatform Challenge 🌟 🏢 SharePoint Online vs. SharePoint On-Premise — Which Is Right for Your Organization? I recently came across an insightful comparison by Bijay Kumar @SPGuides, explaining how to choose between SharePoint Online (Microsoft 365) and SharePoint On-Premise (self-hosted) — a question many organizations face during digital transformation. Here’s a quick breakdown 👇 ☁️ SharePoint Online Cloud-based, part of Microsoft 365 No servers, patches, or manual updates Seamless integration with Teams, OneDrive, and Power Platform Predictable subscription cost 💳 Automatic scalability and global access 🌍 🖥️ SharePoint On-Premise Hosted on your own data center Full control over data, security, and customization 🔐 Ideal for regulated industries (finance, defense, healthcare) Requires internal IT management and infrastructure Higher upfront and maintenance costs 💸 ⚖️ Choosing the Right Fit ✅ Go with SharePoint Online if you want: Low maintenance Built-in integrations Real-time collaboration 🏢 Stick with On-Premise if you need: Strict data residency Deep customizations Offline or isolated environments 💡 Many enterprises adopt a Hybrid Model — using Online for collaboration and On-Premise for sensitive workloads. What’s your organization using — SharePoint Online, On-Premise, or a Hybrid approach? 🤔 #PowerPlatform #SharePoint #Microsoft365 #DigitalTransformation #Automation #PowerApps #PowerAutomate #CloudComputing #HybridCloud #LearningJourney

Is it time to move away from legacy SharePoint? Many organisations are still working on legacy SharePoint environments, including SharePoint 2010, 2013, 2016, and soon-to-be-out-of-support SharePoint 2019. The reality is that these platforms often create more challenges than benefits, from security risks to limited collaboration features; legacy systems can slow down innovation. Migrating to SharePoint Online isn’t just a technical upgrade—it’s a strategic move. It unlocks: ~Enhanced security and compliance ~Scalability for future growth ~Modern collaboration tools The transition can feel daunting, but with the right approach, it’s an opportunity to rethink processes and empower your teams. Following on from our session at #M365North earlier in the week with Simon Hudson and Simon Doy, I've created a blog entry on one of the really interesting features of the #SharePointKnowledgeAgent, how to categorise documents automatically. The whole lifecycle of a document depends on sort of document it is. In migrations and the un-curated dingy corners of organisations document storage this information is often missing - so anything that automates this task is welcome. The usual caveats apply, as the SharePoint Knowledge Agent is still in preview, and things may change: https://lnkd.in/essMgCdg

Microsoft is rolling out four new #EntraID roles for #SharePoint and #CopilotAgent Administrators. - SharePoint Advanced Management Administrator - Agent ID Administrator - Agent ID Developer - Agent Registry Administrator For SharePoint admins, it’s important not to misinterpret the new SharePoint Advanced Management Administrator role as a SAM-only role. This role has access to SAM features and full SharePoint administrative privileges. https://topedia.net/cNwhbl
