I have learned that while a PowerPoint presentation effectively supports visual learners, it does not fully cater for all learners on its own. Through practice and reflection, I intentionally combine visual materials with clear verbal explanations, discussions, and interactive activities to ensure auditory and kinesthetic learners are equally engaged. This approach helps me create an inclusive learning environment where every learner can access and participate meaningfully in the lesson.

PowerPoint Is Not Enough Slideshows are common in classrooms, but relying solely on them can make learning passive. Students may take notes mechanically without grasping key concepts. To make lessons effective, teachers must incorporate activities that require participation. For instance, for history lessons, you can use slides to outline events, but follow up with debates, role-plays, or source analysis exercises. This engages students critically and ensures deeper understanding. It's about striking a balance between content delivery and active learning. So, how do you make your lessons interactive beyond using slides? Do you use case studies, think-pair-share, or hands-on projects? Share your strategies!

I don’t think people always see what goes into creating an engaging teaching resource Behind every lesson pack there’s: ✔ Hours of spec-checking ✔ Research to ensure accuracy ✔ Sequencing to make learning flow ✔ Built-in differentiation ✔ Activities that actually engage It’s never just “a PowerPoint.” When I create resources through TeachHSC, I’m always thinking: Would this genuinely save me time if I downloaded it? Would this support learners, not just cover content? Because lecturers don’t need more noise - we need structure and support If you create your own resources, you’ll know exactly what I mean 💛 #TeachHSC #HealthAndSocialCare #FE #MoreThanJustAPowerpoint

Educators, creatives and everyone else...what is the thing that takes up most of your time? Is it editing worksheets? Building lessons plans? Trying to workout why the layout on that PowerPoint slide looks off? I know that in any industry there are so many 'extras' that need to be done we often don't get to do what we love. Why not let someone else do the boring stuff? So you can get back to teaching, analyzing , presenting or just doing what you're built to do.
