Do better #aws.
Today I was turned away at the entrance of AWS Summit Stockholm. The reason? I had my 1-month-old baby with me. I offered to leave the stroller and carry the baby in the harness instead. It didn't matter, an age limit policy said no. I’m not gonna lie.. I cried a little. I've been to other fairs at that same venue with a stroller without a problem. I've worked in tech for almost 10 years and I love this industry. I was so excited to be there today, baby on chest and all. In tech, we don't just blindly follow outdated rules and policies because they exist. We question them, we iterate, we do better. AWS is kind of unavoidable when you work in tech. But today, the brand left a bad taste in my mouth. So AWS, please do better. And hey, why not have a "kids corner"? I would have loved to bring my 3-year-old daughter today to spark her curiosity about tech. Include us moms, include parents. Update the policy. #AWSSummit #WomenInTech #Inclusion
