The wider use of additive manufacturing (AM) in the Defence sector is no longer held back by engineering: those challenges are recognised and being tackled. When is needed is an operational strategy and the resources to implement it holistically. If more Defence organisations are to reap the benefits in design, service levels and costs that additive manufacturing undoubtedly delivers - when applied judiciously - then the headline-grabbing AM strategies must be backed up with funding and culture change. #supplychain #defence #defense #additivemanufacturing #3dprinting https://lnkd.in/gGYvVrGX

Planning for 2026: Engineering Support in Aerospace As OEMs and Tier 1s begin shaping their budgets for 2026, one theme I keep hearing is the growing need to balance internal resources with outside Engineering Support. In my 30+ years in aerospace engineering services, I’ve seen how the right partnerships can: Accelerate schedules without compromising quality Bring specialized expertise when it’s needed most Provide flexibility in uncertain market conditions At Butler, our focus has always been on being that trusted partner — to providing project based engineering solutions, product development & deign, aftermarket engineering, test, and manufacturing engineering support for leaders across the aerospace & defense industry. I’d love to hear from others in the aerospace community: 👉 How are you approaching engineering resourcing for 2026? #Aerospace #EngineeringSupport #Aftermarket #Partnerships

Additive manufacturing is moving from the lab bench to the backbone of allied defense. The United States Department of Defense is scaling AM from “experimental” pilots to core logistics and readiness infrastructure — embedding advanced manufacturing directly into sustainment. 💰 In the FY 2026 budget, $3.3 billion has been proposed for additive manufacturing projects — an 83% increase on last year’s $1.8 billion. This surge isn’t just about the U.S. Under AUKUS security pact, this shift creates real opportunities for co-production, shared industrial capacity, and faster delivery of critical capabilities across the alliance. #OneBigFactory

Precision at Speed: What Q4 Means for UK Buyers of CNC Machining UK manufacturing is ending the year in a tricky gearshift: order books are uneven, but defence and aerospace pipelines are warming up. September’s UK Manufacturing PMI dipped to 46.2, signalling contraction across the sector, with continued job shedding and softer output. Yet two bright spots matter for anyone sourcing machined components: 1. Defence demand is firming - Policy signals and procurement reform aim to grow UK capacity and open supply chains to more SMEs. This is good news for agile subcontractors who can deliver right-first-time parts without long onboarding cycles. 2. Aerospace services are scaling - With global fleets expanding, the long-term rise in MRO and on-wing/off-wing work points to sustained needs for high-reliability, tight-tolerance components and rapid spares. Add in fresh export momentum, like the new UK–India complex weapons deal supporting jobs across the supply chain, and the outlook isn’t just “less bad”; it’s selectively strong where quality and responsiveness win. What Buyers Need Now • Short, dependable lead times - With demand pockets spiking, the ability to flex capacity beats chasing the absolute lowest unit price. • Process control over promises - Documented setups, repeatability and in-process inspection keep urgent programmes on schedule. • Supplier collaboration - Early DFM input on materials and tolerances can remove ops, reduce scrap, and de-risk assemblies, especially under evolving defence procurement rules. How Tarvin Precision Fits At Tarvin Precision, we focus on low-to-mid volume CNC machining with fast changeovers, ideal for NPI, spares and schedule-critical work. Our priorities: • Responsiveness - Quick quotes, realistic lead times, proactive communication. • Consistency - Robust fixturing, toolpath optimisation and traceable inspection. • Partnership - practical DFM suggestions that protect function while trimming cost and risk. If you’re shoring up your supply chain for Q4 and early 2026 - whether for defence, aerospace, scientific instruments or special-purpose assemblies - let’s talk. A quick engineering call today can prevent a missed delivery tomorrow. Either send a message here or via our website. If you are ready, you can also use our Online Quote System to get started straight away. https://lnkd.in/e9XtUWhK https://lnkd.in/e46jDSfQ
