I had the pleasure of co-chairing Digital Media Wire's LA Games Conference this week. The high-level event was the 17th annual and brought together an amazing group of executives, investors and dealmakers to focus on #Investment #Dealmaking #MergersandAcquisitions and #Legal Issues in the #GamesBusiness. Speakers included Ben Feder, Songyee Y., Jennifer Reingold, Michael Vorhaus, Jeff Chaiken, Cooper Jackson, Dara Leung, Haiyan Zhang, Andreea Enache 🔜 LA Games Conference, Nate Jones, Jesse B. Levin, Jesse Saivar, Jasper Brand, Sam Lam, Phil Sanderson, Francesco Di Ianni, Boyoung Kim, Holly Liu, Kyu Lee, Zachary St. Martin, Elvis Stumbergs, Pierina Merino Alaimo, Brandon Tatum, Emma C. Smizer, Chul-min Sim, Nanea Reeves, Julia Beilman, Dave Anderson, Joe Newman, Adam Sullivan, among others. I gave opening remarks, which included addressing the growing complexity of and challenges in the games industry, ending on a positive note highlighting the recent Q1 2025 reports showing growth in both M&A and VC deals. Following my presentation was an inspirational panel of powerful women leaders, including Cooper Jackson, Dara Leung, Holly Liu, Andreea Enache, and Haiyan Zhang, who discussed their journeys, career decisions, overcoming challenges and rising in the industry. Here are my thoughts on the event and experience: 1) The attendees were top notch, which made for valuable #networking, further facilitated by the great venue layout at #UCLA conference center and many breaks, lunch and reception on-site. Thank you Jay Tucker for being a wonderful partner through UCLA Anderson Center for Media, Entertainment, & Sports. 2) Our keynotes were top notch! A big thanks to Ben Feder and Songyee Yoon and moderators, Jon Snoody and Jennifer Reingold. 3) This is the second year that we have brought together this mix of lawyers, investors and dealmakers working in the game industry, and, the mix really works. The networking was great and people stayed from start to finish. I'm looking forward to doing more events focused on this segment of the industry, perhaps some dinners and receptions between now and next year's conference. Ping me if you are interested in this.
