It’s been over two years since I first started writing the idea for "Played by Humans". Late-night messages with Eduardo Karas and Filipe Resende, then the first of hundreds of calls with Eduardo Lubiazi and João Machado, then the brilliance of Bert Marissen, Gabriel Menezes, Jacob Roberts, Dylan Cimo, Monica Gelbecke, Lindsei Barros and a true orchestra of talent that brought this idea to life. Two years since we first realized that AI music is sneaking its way into our playlists and that most people can’t tell the difference. In that time, we found partners in the Jazz Is Dead collective, built a first-of-its-kind tool that distinguishes between human-made and AI-Generated music, created a the “Played by Humans” label to help real artists stand out, made one of the most-streamed AI songs human, shot a documentary about what it means for people to share their music with each other, and hosted a sold-out show, all to prove that, without humans, music is just sound. The line between artists and AI has gotten even blurrier since this all began, and the need to bring human creatives back into focus is more urgent than ever. “Played By Humans”  gives musicians a new way to be seen and listeners a way to know who, or what, made the music they listen to. It’s not anti-AI.
